Road trip from Wyoming
« on: Jan 31, 2015, 07:53 PM »
Hey guys, looking for a ice report for Devils Lake and the surrounding area. A group of us are coming up at the end of the month for a couple of days and are trying to figure out what we are getting ourselves in to, should we bring auger extensions? Going to be safe enough to drive the pick up on??

Bring the extensions, you don't need them yet but very well may by the end of Feb.  I was out last weekend and the gear box of my Lazer was in the pile of ice chips when it broke through the ice.  There are a lot of pressure ridges this year.  As long as you stay away from them  I have found the ice to be safe to drive PU on.  Snow fall has been limited to this point so getting around isn't a problem yet.  From the reports, perch are no where near as good as last year.  Some days good others not so.  Walleyes are also up and down but can usually be found in early morning or late evening bite.  Real specific fishing report, huh?  Sorry I can't help more.

Is it still making ice? Also wondering if tire chains are recommended?
