Do flashers attract fish?
« on: Jan 27, 2015, 08:24 PM »
I was curious if anyone thinks that the clicking sound made by flashers could attract fish?  Perch are very curious, and in shallow water, I would think that the sound is fairly easy for them to hear.

I have often wondered if they can hear it,I don't know why fish couldn't hear it if I can.It doesn't seem to impact them one way or the other,I wonder what Vexilar and lowrance have to say about this?

After several years,I've learned that if you turn all the knobs on your Vex to the highest setting, loosen the to big side knobs, set it on uneven ice so it really vibrates. It really drives the fish crazy. I just sort through them as they jump out the hole. Got 15 nice gills yesterday. Yes yes yes they attract fish.

I do know flashers do attract policemen!  ;D

I don't know if they attract or spook fish but they do show them when they are doing what they are doing!

This and auger noise seem to be a hot topic. I'd have to say it depends on the species. Pan fish don't seem to be as effected, but I know for a fact that Walleyes are. Especially in shallower water (-15ft). I drill all my holes before dusk and stay at least 15 yards away from them after I set my tip-ups. For me, the quieter the better.

That's true about auger noise.  I was into a school of perch last week.  My friend drilled a hole right next to me and while he was drilling, I could see the perch still chasing my jig and hooked one.

Drill 4-5 holes and watch the perch scoot off !
