Replacement bolt for Mora auger

I have a 6" Mora hand auger and the wing nut/bolt broke. I've seen replacement ones on line but I'm been cheep LOL. Does anyone have have suggestions for a new bolt.

socket head screw. try lowes or home depot

The socket head will work, but it is metric.  My local Ace hardware had them.

I believe it's an 8mm socket head screw.

Not sure about this.  My augers have a threaded hole in the auger itself.  No nut is required, unless you use an extra long bolt and double nut it.

With the longer bolt and nut it will not come loose

Any fitting bolt will work. No significant torque with a hand auger.

I broke the wing nut on my 6" lazer after a number of years of hand drilling.  Its not the torque by itself, its the constant rocking as you drill a hole (particularly when you get tired and can't make a smooth revolution without stopping each turn).  That combined with the fact that the bolt/wing nut tends to come loose a little and there is some play in the system.  I was lucky, it broke but stayed together.  Now that I am using a clam plate on this same auger, I check the wing nut fairly frequently.
