Elite 5 Chirp owners that bought ice pack separate
« on: Jan 25, 2015, 09:37 AM »
Posted this elsewhere but didn't get a response. My Elite 5 gold was recently stolen... Just purchased an elite 5 Chirp Gold to replace it. I had the ice pack before with the other unit, but it happened to be part of the package when the thief got away with it.  This is a question for those that bought the Chirp separate from the ice pack... Did you have to buy the blue plug to use it in the ice pack or was plug-n-fish out of the box???  I haven't been able to locate pictures of the back of the unit so I'm curious.   Thanks!

Bump (even my email to Lowrance wasn't answered correctly, yet)

Anyone out there that can help? Even the guys with the elite 5 CHIRP ice machine could take a pic of how the ducer is connected to the unit. Thanks!!!

The ice packs still come with the pti-wsu transducer without the adapter cable.

OK - in a hurry to get to a basketball game, so didn't look too hard.  How do I post pics?

Lowrance said I need to buy the adapter plug... For some reason- I'm not believing them.

Don't have an online photo account.  PM me your email and I'll send it that way.  Sorry.

Lowrance is right, you need a uniplug to blue plug adapter. This has been discussed several times in other threads. The ice pack comes with the pti-wsu -6 pin uni-plug. Any unit that uses the blue transducer plug needs the pti-wbl for a direct plug in or the 6 pin to 7 pin adapter.

Here is a video showing the uni-plug transducer included in the PPP-18i ice pack.

It arrived and now see that... Wanted to get out this weekend with it, but found out too late regarding the adapter cable. Oh well....The adapter will be here on Monday.  I'm just glad I was able to find one!  Guess this weekend is left to updating the software and modifying a cooler to make my ice unit... Still far cheaper than the PPP-18i as I had an extra transducer and batteries. I'll post another when done...

Trophy angler makes a nice round base electronics bag that will fit the elite 5 for $20.

So.... As I was in the process of fabricating an ice unit today, I needed to find a drill bit.  As I searched in one of the utility chests, I moved a towel searching for my bits. Welp, to my surprise, there was my elite 5 in its ice pack!!!!   Needless to say, I put the modification for the chirp on hold, although I did fire it up and installed the latest software.  .
