whats your go to jig(s)?
« on: Jan 24, 2015, 01:25 PM »
any of you who know my fishing style know i jig almost exclusively and have alot of rods always rigged and ready!
that being said... i have found i always have a set 3 lure options on all the time! small tungsten with plastics, frostee spoon with maggots and a flyer spoon with bait of some kind; colors or size might change depending on the body of water but thats my "go to"
what about the rest of the jig addicts?

Hmmm...tough question. I guess I always have a teardrop tungsten, frostee jig and a #3 jiggin rap rigged. Color choice is even harder, glow, glow or glow.

I'd have to agree with james42eastct, custom jigs and spin toungston but I use a black belly chartreuse top or orange belly with yellow top tipped with either a wax worm or trigger x plastic. But always always have another pole with a vmc toungston or vmc pug bug with trigger x plastic, absolutely deadly

You might have noticed yesterday on one of the rods I wasn't using, it had a spoon (rattilin flyer) and more importantly a bucktail fly. That is one of my fav's. Lots of times they just hit the fly. Been using glow tungstuns lately with decent luck.
Good old swedish pimple or frosty is my 3rd choice.

Rattlin flyer spoon, the slender spoon, the Lindt darter and the rapala rippin rap all good ideas also. Glad to see some other people have the same ideas, at least I know I'm presenting the right bait

my go to jigs are a lindy rattlin flyer, gold swedish pimple with red flapper, and a lindy ice worm. I typically use mousies but will settle for spikes when not available. Glad to see the mousies make the come back this year! I thought they were becoming endangered.

I prefer jigs in some variation of a firetiger/perch pattern. Spoons usually start with a gold base.

-Love to jig-but I HAVE to put the flags out too!-Usually carry an ultralight fenwick; a medium lt. lightning rod+ a heavy baitcaster-all 24"-depending on what I'm targeting.-I've got a lot of bought jigs+spoons; but when it comes down to it-I usually end up hittin' up the jigs I make-whatever you tip them with brings up anything the rod can handle.-Really large bass broke the line on an orange-head copper last year.+ I use 4 lb. on the ul-

I usually have my panfish rod rigged up with a small tungsten jig tipped with plastic or a frostee spoon in gold, glow or perch and my heavier (Trout) setup is always set up with a gitzit little tough guy, colors range from yellow to green to blue and silver, all depends on the lake i'm fishing.
