Where to fish around glenwood?
« on: Jan 24, 2015, 12:15 PM »
Am I the only one who struggles every weekend deciding where to fish? I have Harvey and Rifle in my back yard. But I also like exploring. Each weekend I try to figure out where my kids and wife will have the funniest time... This year it has been kind of slow!

So what are your favorite lakes around the Glenwood Area?

Sylvan produced well for me. I've never fished reudi, or sweet water but those are close. Good call with island lake. It's a good lake for numbers. Rio blanco up by meeker is another option.

I wish I had a sled! If I did I would be all over a bunch of lakes.

I might have to try the others! Problem is all the warm weather makes me nervous on the ice!

Give reudi a try or go above reudi to chapmen. You'll have to walk into that one but it's not to far. Good for cutthroat I would avoid rifle and Harvey right now personally. Was almost 60 in glenwood yesterday

Gypsum Ponds is usually fun for more catching less keeping.  Sweetwater and Sylvan I've had hit or miss on, both have more scenery than off of i-70 ponds. There is usually and eagle around Sweetwater.  Sure you know but Rifle cancelled their ice tournament due to ice.  I've seen ice fishing on the Wilmor lake ) exit on westbound i-70 between Edwards and Wolcott but seems suspect. Have fun where ever you go and keep exploring.
