Falcon Lake walleye??
« on: Jan 22, 2015, 10:46 PM »
I've got a place at Falcon and never fish there unless it's at the Falcon Fish Off... Prefer High Lake for trout or sledding out for walleye. We seem to find the walleye in the summer but never thru the ice! Has anyone had any success finding decent walleye thru the ice? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!

I have never ice fish for Walleyes on Falcon Lake. I would try two types of spots.

1) Mid lake humps or points fishing deep off the the structure like 25-40' deep
Lake of the Woods Walleyes winter deep just off the structure

2) Just out side of deeper water weeds beds & right up to the transition of the weeds / clean water
I fish Big Whiteshell lake & find Walleyes in back bays with deep water weed beds like 6-10' of water

Fish first thing in the morning or at sun set is the key

I hope this helps

Stick to spots 30' or less or you'll be killing the fish as you bring them up.
