I guess what i meant was in response to a concern on a previous post about getting wind flags after grinding the holding tab off.

I just picked up four new heritage lakers today's , with plastic spools.  I had to sort through all the inventory on the shelf to get 4 good ones, the rest had the spools attached at a slight to heavy angle. Basically the axle bolt of the spool is not attached perpendicular to the wood spar. Maybe they had a big batch go out like this.

No, just bent. Its only a brass pin. Bends like butter.
I replaced mine with stainless pins.

ive got heritage traps and like a lot of people have mentioned sometimes i turn the spring/flag to angle the way the flag will come out.  On the other hand i wouldnt worry too much, i have caught 6 inch brookies, and even smaller many times.

I love my heritage lakers. I adjust the spring and catch trout, perch, crappie, bass and pike. You just have to be smarter than the tip up.
