Si-Tex FL-8 Flasher
« on: Jan 20, 2015, 05:53 PM »
So I was screwing around on Ebay and I found one of these for a decent price. I am thinking it is from the mid-80's? It basically seems to be a precursor to what Vexilar still makes. Anybody have any experience with them?

I had one way back when.  Worked like the Vexilar.
I think before Si-Tex owned/made them another company made them also.
If I remember right it was called Hondex.
My Vexilar FL-8 is from the late 80's early 90's.  I bought it new.  Still works, but is
starting to blink out and I have to jolt it with my foot from time to time and get it working again.
I took it apart once and cleaned the inside but it is probably worn brushes.
I put it side by side with a new manufacture unit and the new one is much brighter then mine.

Thanks, FM. I went ahead and just bought the damn thing. With one income (wife stays home with the kids) and very limited budget for toys, I just can't justify dropping $300-700 for a new unit. At any rate, if it works properly it will beat the hell out of my current set-up, which is a low-end open water Humminbird unit.
