Dead on Arrival
« on: Jan 15, 2015, 01:01 PM »
I placed an order with a sponsor here for some live bait.  It had to ship overnight to the west coast; quite a substantial cost, I must say.  All the mousies and waxies were DOA.  The maggots look great.  Looks like I've learned a lesson, albeit an expensive one!

Give them a call.  They might make the situation right for you!  Surprising that overnight shipping had such bad results.  Were there cooling packs in the box?

No cooling packs, just wood chip type stuff.  I'll just consider it a lesson well learned.  I guess I'll just shop the local places, but no one has mousies in this part of the country.  Just to clarify, it was over $50 shipping overnight, in a basic cardboard box with wood shavings.  No ice, no styrofoam.  Lesson learned.  Happy fishing, everyone!

The sponsor at the top of this page?

If it was, I'm sure they will make it right!

If it wasn't, that's where you went wrong IMO...

Definitely call them asap...

Give them a chance to make it right..

They have one of the best reps in the business.

Most bait shops in the tri state area are supplied by them..

Could have been a lot of things.. Example, one of the trucks or something had an exhaust leak and they died from carbon monoxide.. Who knows?

Good luck!!

Yes, call them.  I have ordered from them for many years without issue.  Delivery to Colorado is usually 2nd day and while not cheap, they have usually contained an ice pack and newspapers to insulate.  Something odd happened and I'm betting they will make it good.  Might also indicate that you mentioned the problem on IS and others on the forum said you would get good service!😉. Lets them know you were speaking out about the issue on a site they sponsor with lots of readers.  Use sugar when you talk to them!  Nobody likes getting crabby customers complaining right out of the gate!  If sugar doesn't work then.............,

Flam, they are very busy this time of year, but do answer their phone.

They would be grateful to know of this event and possibly avoid that carrier in the future.

I heard back from Knutson's and they MORE than took care of me.   They explained how busy they were.  Also, the package was packed for the temps in the midwest, which was quite a bit colder than here, so that didn't help the critters.
I'm pleased with the response and will be purchasing from them again.  Thanks Knutson's!!!

They never mentioned anything about hearing from some of you folks on my behalf, but thanks to those of you who did contact them.  The outcome was more than fair, as they reimbursed most of the shipping costs incurred.  I'm willing to try them again, and think others should not hesitate to try them as well.

I spoke with them as well...

They are the bait store I use when I fish that part of the state.

They have everything you could need for ice fishing and I want them to be around as long as I am!!!
