Minnow watch

Should we do a minnow watch? Post who has what where. Kind of like a 'bait conditions" thread.

Yes, that would be great! Seems like the minnow suppliers are especially terrible this year. Wish I lived near Tackle Shack! Haha!

Mikes on 191 in Nazareth. On the way North for many just off 33. Lively bait and always a good count. I used several yesterday and still have more than the two dozen fat heads I paid for. ;D Hate those places when they carefully count each and every minnow. :P Usually he has medium, large, and fatheads, as well as meal worms and waxies.  Friendly place and the only negative for me is their late opening time 8am.

Whoerles in MT Pocono - closed for ice fishing season - first time I've ever seen it.

Timberline Ski Shop (Pocono Boat House) in Blakeslee/Pocono Lake off 940 - Has small, med, large, and pike minnows, healthy and always gives extra.  All sorts of other tackle and bait as well.  Awesome guy, just call him a day before and he'll open up early for ya.  Says if he sees enough interest, he'll start opening at 5 or 6 just to keep ice anglers happy.  Good for the guys fishing Brady's, FEW, maybe Toby and Goulds.  Give him some business guys.

Dr. JM
My private lakes: Laurel, Gruber, Emerald complex (Mountaintop, E Emerald, W Emerald, Pine Tree, Deer, Lower Deer, Halfmoon, Hunter, Little Mountaintop), Leisure Lk, Leisure Pd, Monroe, Tego, Little Tego, Upper Spring, Pocono Summit, Blue Mountain.  I want Naomi, Paupacken, and Hallowood and I'll chase the dream called Pocono Lake

Base Camp Outfitters - Has fatheads, shiners, and wax worms. Nice guys and good bait. Also, carry ice gear from sleds and augers to rods and lures. Nothing huge but a little bit of everything.
300 S 4th St. Newport, Pennsylvania (717) 567-3300

Kramer's Recycling/Sporting Goods - No fatheads as of now, lost supplier last year, but usually carry wax worms and miscellaneous ice fishing gear. Bait and staff good. Would recommend calling before stopping by. Owners have been nice enough to open after hours when called so I could get bait.

if you can catch your own by setting out minnow traps that would be a better route. them creek chubs and suckers are tougher and more lively than store bought shiners or fatheads anyways

I'm pretty far south but in case anyone else is down this way, HL's Live Bait and Tackle in Morrisville has a very good selection of shiners.  They carry everything from small shiners (2") up to jumbo muskie-sized shiners.  They also carry fatheads, waxworms and other assorted creepy crawlies along with a small selection of ice fishing gear.  They are located on Bridge Street next to the Delaware River- less than 1 mile from Trenton, NJ.  FYI - they are a cash only shop (215-295-1400).
