Ice Auger Conversion Kit Combo
« on: Jan 06, 2015, 05:21 AM »
I'm thinking about buying a Clam Ice Auger Conversion Kit Combo, I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are? Planning on trying my old Dewalt 18v XRP Ni-Cd or would I be better off with the ION?

You're probably gonna need a new drill if you go the clam route.  Lots of info on this page, a lot depends on how big a hole you need.  Many are very happy with a Clam plate. Not too many report they have gone the complete clam kit, usually just the plate and use their own hand auger.

I should of added a little more info, the size of the auger would be 6in. I currently have a old Nils 6in. that has to be at least 15 years old and won't work with the Clam Plate because of the tee bar they used to mount the handle in, and It needs a new head.

Well I was hoping on getting more input :(, I'll just have to buy the conversion kit and see if it's worth the money, and a new Ridged 4ah drill ;D.

If you would only READ other posts a little, you would find that most people are very happy with their clam plate/cordless drill setup.  Many have given up gas augers.  Look through the long thread here - its only a few threads down.  You should have read it first before even posing your question.
