hand auger not cutting

I have a new eskimo 8 inch hand auger and it walks when i try ro drill a hole ..any advice will be greatly appreciated

Is it the Flat blade type or the New Silvertip?
Is it possible they put the blades on upside down. Cutting edge should face up.
Make sure all the screws are tight also.

Its flat blade everything looks right it just walks ..ill fouble check the blades...thanks

Yes its new in box and im turning it right ..i figured it out the bracket that hold the one blade is bent alittle ..i just got a faulty one ill fix it when i get time ..for now ill use the old spoon auger

I have a Eskimo 8 inch also. And it does the same thing to me. I have to press very hard to have it cut. It walks. And it has new blades. Don't use it much.

I had the same problem. I got a used mora 8" that just had brand new blades installed and I went to use it and it just walked and did a teeny bit of ice shaving. I was pretty frustrated. I did some research and found out that it may be off pitch. Since mine is used the previous owner may have inadvertently banged it on the ground/ice the last time they used it and the blade mounts may have bent slightly so it doesn't make the right contact with the ice anymore. All this being said, I don't know how to get the mounts/blades back to correct pitch to cut properly.

Better take it back to where you got it as trying to fix something that may be bent will probably just not work.
