Thank you, Eaten by Limestone. I'll continue posting I suppose. Maybe someone has the answer -- How is ice between Fowler and the point across lake (where the final house is on north side of lake). I have been fishing this spot for years have never seen less than 12 inches of ice there. Temp will be dropping down this weekend but I'll be there fishing from Thur - Sun.

If you mean the rocky pt opposite Fowler on the east side where the log red roofed camp, formally owned by Woods Lodge, (Talchito Point), plenty of ice, at least 12", with lots of cold coming.

Does anyone have ATV's or snowmobiles on the ice? Heading up this weekend and wondering if I should bring the machines or not. Thanks for any info.

maybe more than 12" north of the narrows and away from moving water, much less ice from the narrows south....

We have an expanding area of open water at the south end of the Narrows.  That may skim over with the coming cold, which will make it all the more dangerous.  All safe ice, 12" plus, Narrows north.  On the extreme north end the river inlet can clearly be seen, open water there as well.

Has anybody looked at the forecast temperatures for Pottersville for this weekend?

If you're going up, bring the long johns!

I think the ice will be thicker than last weekend!

as long as you guys don't get too close to the narrows, you should be at least ok for walking.

thank you for the advice once again. Any recommendations where to stay or where not to stay? Don't need anything fancy.

I know some people who have been happy with the motel at the corner across from natural stone bridge on 9. Its 1 block north of 9 and Glendale rd.   The only other place I k now of is the wells house, which I think was reopened.  That's fancy.   Chester town, off exit 25 has the panther mountain inn.

Got in to some yellows today  ;D tried a new spot on Schroon. About 15 or so 10"'ers. They were even hitting my tipups with 5" hunts on them. Very aggressive today. I'll take it

Got skunked today, but had my opportunities. Lots of chasers but I couldn't get them to commit. Any ideas?

Same story for me today.  Had one nice Laker on early, rest of the day lookers and chasers.  Buckshot spoons, white tubes, soft plastics, other spoons, smelt oil scent, nothing would make em commit.

its the way schroon is, the jigging bite gets tougher and tougher as the ice year progresses...actually that is how most lake trout lakes go, jigging wise.    Not to say there isn't a double digit day left out there, but at this point in the season, I would be happy with 3 or 4 most days, taking a 0 at Schroon is never out of the question.    This is the time of year to increase your odds and spread some tipups if you are so inclined.

Hey, I know it's a freaky year but, has anyone heard whether or not if they're having the Fish & game contest the first weekend of March?

Yeah, I've had tipups out. No luck on them yet. Still learning schroon/lakers. I'll get there. Trying again in the am with a buddy
