As far as I know this has never been barbless and this year would be no different, no need to pinch those hooks.

Why? All my winter hooks are pinched, just to protect myself. :)

525 register fishers, 72 fish caught, super super slow! Biggest was a 7ish pound pike that paid out over $5,000.

Another top notch event by the LL Lions club, fish weren't snapping though.

Good derby we'll run. Prizes getting bigger every year with more people. But twice the peop almost last year and half the fish caught as last years. Still enjoyed just a sklow slow day.

I will say I could have done without the three snowmobiles buzzing around the very outside and inside the fishing area, very loud and annoying, I've got a loud and annoying sled myself but there is a time and place to have them, and a fishing derby isn't one of them.

YA last year they were i top of no vehicles in the fiahing area or sleds nothin but the half dozen trucks for weigh station purpose. This year they didn't do nothing. The biggest eye was 3.2 lbs I belive and smallest fish was a 0.21 walleye. This year had almost twice the people compared to last year and almost half the fish caught as last year so it was a slow day all around out there.

Managed to get a 2.42 pound walleye on my dead line with a 5 inch smelt........... Not what I expected to come out of the hole but got a nice jacket for random prize. Was with the guy that won the propane jiffy auger. He is wondering if there are any offers for it he doesn't fish much. $630 sticker on it.

For the future. Just a thought.  Maybe start a half hour earlier. Say 9:30 or even 9.  Done at 2 ?

Buddy actually did get his tip up ran over by a sled.  Other than that it was a well organized and great tournament.  Can't wait for next year.

This was the first time in 5 years I've seen sleds being a problem, but they were a problem this year.

Best run tournament I have ever been at. Don't change a thing especially hours. Some of us have a long drive in morning. Hours are same for everyone. It is a Derby.

Absolutely cannot move it ahead it's not possible to get everyone through registration in time. Makes it very difficult task in the dark as well. Also very hard to control skidoo traffic not related to derby, people are free to go where they want, visiting or whatever.

3 of the sleds flying around where three kids in a big red perminate shack that I'm guessing are locals. They would not stop fling around even in the fishing area durring the derby right beside me.
