Anyone Fishing at pea porridge pond in madison?

Hi everyone.

Im from Rhode Island and got rent house for 3 days in Jan second week, and my wife let me go out ice fishing for one day so I was wonder if anyone ice fishing at pea porridge pond before? seem not much information about that pond.

Hope anyone can help me or give me a advice near by other lake or pond. Im fishing for bass and northern pike.

Heard it's good early season then slows right fown

Thanks everyone for reply back with some information. I was wonder if Silver Lake is better to fishing instead of Pea Porridge pond? Also Anyone know near by bait store selling live bait?

I went by there Thursday, chipped a couple holes, looked like about 3 inches of ice, but wet around the edges, however I could see a pile of holes out from the boat launch. Someone wanted it really bad!

pea porridge has bassand pickerel and yellow perch. check possible new rules on taking bass in2015.
Ossipee Lake is much better fishing.

Fished it for a few hours yesterday afternoon while listening to the Pats.
2 flags .... hit and spit chew and screws.

4" of ice in close drops off to 2.5" of ice.

If you go be very careful !

Were you going for trout and if so which species? Any deep sets for browns or were you on the shore for rainbows?

I stayed in close to shore ... didn't like being on 2.5 inches of ice.

No that was Dave's truck, not sure on the age. You'll notice mine it's a white F350 crewcab with the plate rednek.

When I noticed the Tundra as I drove away I wanted to look at it ... check mileage .... tires .....
Just put new tires on mine.

I will be back there in a couple of weeks once the ice thickens some.

went out first time there last christmas. jigged up a bunch of perch. caught 2 pickerel and jigged a nice rainbow.

How is the ice? hoping more than 4 inches? Thanks guys for reports about that pond. Im look forward to ice fishing there next week, cant wait!
