Clam plate auger drilling technique
« on: Dec 17, 2014, 03:02 PM »
OK, there's been lots posted about how to assemble and which drill you ought to get, etc. etc.  Can anyone offer tips for actually using the thing?  Do you go slow until it bites and then full speed (low) ahead?  How do you minimize the dreaded lazer blades binding at the bottom of the hole?  Safety tips?

Start slow and when it begins to drill full power and NO down pressure on the auger. With sharp blades it will eat through the ice with ease.
