I knew you'd like them. That's all we use and just ordered my boy a full set of his own for Christmas. The guy that makes them, Rick says he's got some new designs.

I got some HTs from mardens last year, they are large and fixed with a screw style "drag". I really like them because they seem to operate smooth, the flag is tall and stiff, and the tripping mechanism works flawless

It's not even close.  Indian Hill Ice traps.  Best hardware, reels the correct way, high quality flags and release is on point.  I have owned them all and nothing compares.  Work the best when there is a particularly light bite...which is too often.

I hate polar tip ups. They don't hold enough line for me and if you get any snow you can't see where the traps are until a flag goes up. I love my jack traps. All quality harrware and I'm partial to the classic wood look.

There is a trap made for all fishing situations..I have a bunch of traps from Heritage to little man and everything in between..I dont think there is ONE perfect trap..Some traps are good for shallow water brookies(polar),and some for deep water fish...Depends on where your fishing and what fish your fishing for..

My 40ups that I got from Walmart work wonders for me. I did doctor them up a bit though. Replaced the flags with a 2 inch by 4 inch piece of red felt and a hot glue gun, and took the plastic reels off and put on heritage 4 inch metal reels. Hold 250 yards of line each and don't stick in the hole too much for trout fishing and the flags stand up 26 inches. However I am interested in getting some flags that are taller.

I have found for bigger flags a roll of colored duck tape works wonders. And the flag does not come loose .  To get something better try a jig stick. or jig rod.

My little man traps are adjustable for shallow or deeper water and or when the snow pack gets deeper. It's pretty simple the cross supports go up or down and easily
