Mr Heater Restrictions?
« on: Dec 13, 2014, 02:09 PM »
just curious on two things:
So I have been looking around for a replacement grate for a mr heater portable so I can make a cooking rack out of it. Question 1: anyone know where to find one? their website has a part listing but wont let me even look without putting a serial number in, plus im sure they want allll the money for it!
2nd question is while looking it up I noticed the website http://www.mrheater.com/sporting/portable-buddy-heater.html states there is a coutry restriction for Canada and a state restriction for MA. what does it mean by restriction? can you not buy these in mass any more?

There is lots of different versions of the cooker grate for the buddy heaters. I have the Big buddy and I went to the kitchen dept. in Wal*Mart and bought a $3.00 cooling rack, bent it in half and wired to onto my existing grill.

2 minute job and works great.

The difference between an 8" hole and a 10" hole is.....a 10" hole will usually give you your boot back!

In the food chain of life...its not good to be referred to as: "a good eating size".

Heating up food with a buddy heater is great. You an get a bit of a propane taste sometimes, but not bad. Just remember that spilling something on the ceramic element can crack it. Best to heat things up in a foil container like the pics above. I usually bring a grill but I've heated up many breakfast sandwiches on my Portable Buddy. This simple bent cooling rack is about as cheap, simple and effective a way to do that as I've ever seen.

Yeah you can't heat your house with it.   ;D
