just curious if any ice shanty guys got fishable ice yet

We were close right before Thanksgiving. 2" of nice black ice on some of the smaller ponds in the N.W. hills but it's all gone now. The swamps are full and the water is cold so it won't be long now.

got 9 days off Christmas week really hoping to fish during that time

Yup. Permy houses are out on Mille Lacs Lake in Central Minnesota.

I'm going up to nh right after xmas and im bringin my gear. It's lookin cold for the next 2 weeeks up there so hopefully ill be able to get out at least once

Few reports out of western mass is that there was 4+ inches, the sun the next couple days should put a damper on the ice but I would say that some ponds may be locked up by Christmas weekend if we can get past these next few sunny warmer days. The ice making gods have been very unpredictable with their weather this year so far

I think we all just need patients haha. I wanna go fishing as much as the next guy but no one can change or predict the weather. It'll come sooner or later. We were spoiled last year with all that ice. I think its supposed to get cold after this week

NOAA reports Jan. 2015 to be as cold as previous years. They refer to it has "EC" equal chances of being the same based on past years.
