Ice fishing Resort Question
« on: Dec 10, 2014, 11:31 PM »
Looking at bringing the wife up for a week of fishing during Feb. Would like something nice with a cabin and of course good fishing . Don't think staying in a sleeper all week is good so looking for somewhere with some night life and other attractions nearby. Any help would be great .

You could try Lacrosse area, there are lots of areas along the river to fish, also Lake Onalaska and there always seems to be something going on in town. Good luck.

Not sure how far up you'd like to go, but on the Wis/Michigan boarder there's a really nice resort that stays open year round for the most part. If you purchase a Michigan license, you can fish the entire Cisco Chain.

Bent's camp has nice cabins, relatively close to Boulder Junction and Land O Lakes, with Eagle River being about 45 minutes out. Good fishing, quiet and the food is very good at Bent's.

If you'd like more info, holler.

If you bring your own gear you could stay at the LCO casino in Hayward.  The Lac Courtes Oreilles lake right next door is an above average walleye and perch lake.

Folks looking to come up to Northern Wis have a good opportunity to find cabins affordable, but you're competing with snowmobilers, so you gotta act fast.

How far north do you want to go.
North Twin Lodge in Phelps is a great place.  The owner, Marti, is an ice fisherman and will put you on to some fish.
There is good fishing in walking distance from the lodge.
Like 52 says  you will be competing with snowmobilers for cabin availability.

Kathan Inn Resort in Sugar Camp/Eagle River is a nice little place. It's on a private 190 acre lake that has a great population of northern, bass and crappie and almost 0 pressure.  Cabins are nice and are very affordable.  I live down the road and I used to volunteer for their kids ice fishing derby.  I was shocked at the size and number of pike registered.  I can give you some spots to try that produced a majority of these fish.  They have a bar/restaurant which is nice and has good food and great fishfrys on Fridays.  About 5 minutes from Eagle River.  They have rates on their website. Just google it.
