Last Days of Blufloyd
« on: Nov 27, 2014, 05:33 PM »
Good as day as any for this news.  It is all but official that I do not have much time left this side of river.  Been fun while it lasted but it seems when they say terminal more than a couple times it means terminal.  Meeting with main cancer guy Monday then will proceed full on with wrapping up the sloppy messy details of my misspent life. Honestly feel good about all decisions
I've made in my life but one and I guess it it too far gone to fix.

Pray if you will, pray if you must,  I can't say I have found Jesus but I have found prayer and the mystery that it works.

I had cancer myself and lucky enough to survive it, but lost 2 younger brothers to cancer so I know somewhat your going through right now. I'm not a prayer type of guy, but my heart goes out to you and your family. Just don't give up, make the most of what time you have left.

Blu, Sorry to hear this. Have known several folks who have received the same news as you. Some handled it better than others. But to a person they were all thankful. That they got to say good bye to friends and family. Some even tried to right wrongs of the past. I think they were the lucky ones. So here is to you Blu. Best wishes!

Blu,

I knew you were pretty ill last year from your posts and battle with chemo. I was hoping to hear some better news about your recovery this year. I have enjoyed your posts over the years as it appeared you were pretty knowledgeable with the central IL lakes and your techniques were productive and solid. I regret we had not had a chance to pop some holes together and share some stories and knowledge. Please keep the board updated on your health and I hope our trip reports or conversation bring you some enjoyment and peace. Keep the best spirit you can as miracles can and do happen.

tight lines,

Jeff

BluFloyd, you still in Illinois or did you move out of state?

If you are still in this craphole state and feel up to it I would be more than happy to pick ya up and haul you and your gear around, even on short notice.

I can say I've had the honor and pleasure to know and fish with you Blu, and it truly was a pleasure.  I laugh at all the many posts over at CLF and how so many never quite understood your cryptic postings.  I remember some people even getting angry because they simply didn't understand your sarcasm..  their loss, and soon ours  :(
Of course, like everyone else, I'll hope against hope but if that fails at least know this.  You left the world a little bit better than you found it, at least in the eyes of most of us in the fishing community.  Lets hope for a reprieve, quick ice and at least one more chance to share some ice soon.  I hope my next private message is from you, not Redfeather  ;)

Blu, I never met you, or knew of you until this post. From what I can see in these posts you were one hell of guy. Wish I did have the pleasure of meeting you. Best wishes to you and your family. You are in my prayers. Tight lines to you, no matter which side of the river you may be.

I'm sure I'll see ya on the ice this winter or at the Tinley show?

Blu, sorry to hear about the diagnosis. Fishing, above all else, is a brotherhood. It is a common bond between men that allows us to connect on a great level. Losing a member of this brotherhood is never easy, regardless of how well we did or did not know the person.

May the waters be beautiful and the fish be bountiful on the other side. Tight lines, my friend.

Cancer has had a huge affect on my family,  I hope you prove them all wrong.  If not, I hope the time you have left is peaceful and spent with the ones you love.

From what I've read and heard from others that were close to Blu it appears that Blufloyd isn't doing the best and is currently in hospice care at a home in Peoria. Doesn't look good ... :(

never met blu--but we shared some posts back and forth about living with and dying from cancer. I'm only 48, but my thyroid cancer returned in my lungs and just last year I learned it is terminal. I was amazed at blu, though, he would post about going out icefishing and having his eyelids freeze because he had just done chemo or how once he had to cut a trip short and go to the emergency room because he was damn near bleeding out from a nosebleed on the ice! I've only got an implant in my throat to hold over my vocal cord and 20 some nodules in my lungs and I've woosed out and not gone on the ice sometimes! And as you guys know, in the peoria area we may only get a couple weeks of fishable ice. Ice fishing is my passion! For blu, I'm gonna force myself out every time possible this season! You guys go back and read some of his posts some time, he knows the art of hardwater walking, and was always willing to share info and insight!
