Spray Lakes Ice fishing Video 2014
« on: Nov 25, 2014, 08:38 AM »
Finished this video at the end of last season.  Thought I would wait until the start of this season to share as an appetizer for upcoming season.  It was early March.  The first couple fish on the video were RMWF and the rest lakers. It was a pretty fun weekend took in the scotch and cigar show at Nakoda resort on Friday and Saturday evenings and ice fished in between on Saturday Morning.

Good luck with the upcoming ice fishing season and stay warm and dry.

Great video. I've never fished at spray before. Is sonar/cam necessary, or is it fairly reliable once ya find the right spot? Any advice on where to set up?

I don't consider myself an expert at spray by any means but I will give you my advice for what its worth.  Is a camera necessary? Nope.  Is a sonar necessary?  You can fish without it but it sure makes it easier (finding your depth and if there are any fish active).  We usually fish off the driftwood boat launch.  No vehicles allowed on the ice so you have to walk from the parking lot (its not that far to get to some deep water).  If you are looking straight down the boat ramp we head out the direction of about 11 O'clock and usually fish in 50-80 feet of water.  For white fish you will have to fish quite a bit shallower but the lakers are usually in the deeper water.  Some will fish even deeper for the lakers.  Hopefully that gets you started.

hell.. I have a nice cam.... I just need to find something decent to record with... it appears that most of the rca jack AV inputs are all going to USB or HDMI .. which is causing an issue with finding something... If anyone has a recommendation on a DVR that will record, or perhaps you have one that you are not wanting any more... let me know  ;-0

After years of recording off a cheap Cabelas camera with a cheap recorder (no complaints they did their job well) I upgraded to an LX9

I'd wait a few more days before hitting Spray, was out there Saturday morning & it looks like the water level in the lake has suddenly dropped about 2ft. There was a strip of open water anywhere from 8-15ft wide all along the shore of the lake making it impossible to get on safely unless you had a dingy or a death wish! Hopefully a week of colder weather will freeze it up again
I fish therefore I am...
