Lipless crank baits
« on: Nov 23, 2014, 08:57 PM »
Picked up some Rapala Rippin Rap lipless crank baits for upper Red. I was wondering how I should rig them? Tie direct to line or snap. What type of rod, I was planning to use a Perch Sweetheart and what test line. These are Ultra Light Rippin Raps 1 1/4 inch 3/16 oz.

Rapala Rippin raps work great until the hooks rip out of lure. [ i found that out several times] snaps do work better than tied strait on line. they wobble from side to side on the fall.[90% hits happen then] try Salmo chubby darters they are better balanced and some lakes/rivers fish  dont like rattles. i use 3 types of rattle baits
1 bill lewis rattle trap 2 Salmo zipper 3 cotton cordell spot.   1,2,3  are built to handle big fish.  tight lines
10% of the fisherman catch 90% of the fish .....im a 10% are you?

#1 duo-lock snap.

Did pretty well with those in open water this year!
