Black hills ice fishing
« on: Nov 17, 2014, 10:40 AM »
Hello all. I'm looking to introduce my fiancé to ice fishing this year and I'd like to target perch. Perch are slim down here in Nebraska so I'd like to get away for the weekend and have some fun with a few slab perch. Any ideas where we can find success in the black hills/rapid city area? Any information regarding guides, lakes, bait shops and hotels would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

Start with The Rooster bait and Tackle. They have a facebook page called roosterbaitandtackle, I think that's what its called. They are a mom and pop bait shop with a lot of loyal customers, and they usually know where the bite is. Sheridan and Deerfield are the main perch lakes here, but I have not been out yet, so I don't know what's happening out there.

Thanks for the tips guys. I've fished the south east (I beleive) cove of Sheridan before. Caught a few crappie, couple perch and some nice rainbows. I'd love to go back to the area again and rent a cabin for us. Anyone willing to tag along and be our guide would be awesome as well.

If you are looking for perch I would try to head up to stockade lake right outside of custer. Was there last year and did really well.

Thanks for the info guys. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm not sure when we will be up there but I hope it's late December or early January. If anyone is willing or wants to come along we would love to have the company

Just let us know when, and I'm sure one of us locals will have something planned somewhere.
