Lake Lowell
« on: Nov 17, 2014, 09:25 AM »
Just wondered if ice was even starting to form yet.  This is one time I would not mind an inversion. I hope to fish Lake Lowell again this year.

I haven't been over, so this is only a guess, but my guess would be not even close.

Perhaps someone has been over and will chime in.

This cold weather will help. Calm surfaces will too. Maybe it will be ready before xmas!
Fish hard, or go home.

Lake Lowell was capped when I drove bythis morning. It looked to be capped last night when I drove by, but it was dark so I'm not sure. Not sure the ice will get thick enough to fish before the weather warms.

Just got back . Drilled two holes at the east boat ramp. The ice was a solid two inches. Another week of below
Freezing temps and we could get out there.

When I was there a guy was standing on the ice about 25' out . I drilled my holes about four feet out.
there's no snow on the ice. That should help it build faster... right.

Hardwater,
I was the dude in black that chatted with ya while you drilled your holes.  Hopefully there'll be enough ice by the end of the week!

Right on Donnie. The 7 day forecast is not horrible.  We may have a chance. I will probably check again Wed or Thursday
.

I don't want to step on any toes or burst any bubbles, but I don't think we will be forming any ice on Lowell for a while based on the forecasts I've been seeing.  Over night lows are barely below freezing with day time highs in the 40's.  You think we will be forming ice?  I don't.  Not until we get at least in to daytime highs at or near 32, anyway.

I drove by last night and the ice looked blue (melted) where it was white a few days ago. I think it's headed in the wrong direction for fishing.

I just checked the holes Hardwater Hunter drilled Sunday. They're frozen over. I punched through the ice and checked the thickness, about the same as Sunday. I didn't see an open water, edges are thin but that's about it. Never know, ice might survive until it gets colder.

I just got back from Lake  Lowell East Nampa boat ramp. There is an even 3&1/2 inches of clear solid ice (used tape
measure). Ice is safe to walk on if you don't do something dumb. I didn't get started fishing or drowning worms
until late morning.  :-\ Bad timing --- NO FISH! But,,, glad to get on some hard water!!!!  ;D

They are only as far as people can throw from the bank. I fished a  couple more hours after the guy with the catfish
left.   No bites for me. Drove over to the Caldwell dam two guys fishing five inches of ice but no fish for them either.

Did anyone mark or catch any fish at Lowell today? Talked to several guys and no one was having any luck at either end of the Nampa dam.

I saw 2 fish were caught, both bass I think.  I didn't get any bites and only marked 1 suspended fish.

Fished both sides of the dam, 1bass not much on the flasher. Went down to the main dam never marked any thing.

Fished the Nampa dame for about 3 1/2 hours and then the Caldwell dam for about an hour, not a bite.  Taped the ice at 3 1/2 inches.
