Yep, matter of fact I live along the river on the southend of Springlake on Riverview Rd. just north of Fin & Feather campground.

There is a little bit of ice starting near the dam. It was windy out there this afternoon.

Went by the pumping-station and it looks like a guy could get out on the ice there. In my younger days I think I would give it a try. Be safe out there!!  Shallow water there.

I was out on Carlton yesterday. 2 inches of ice max. Still pretty thin.

It is just south of Albany about one mile. It's on the river side, just a little back water area.

I drive past there 5 days a week for work and have seen at least a couple guys on that spot darn near every morning now. What does that spot hold for fish. If I had to guess, I'd say bluegill, and maybe a few yellow perch and crappie. Anybody ever pull walleye through the ice in the area immediately around there, or by Cattail Slough by Fulton?

C_C  Usely bluegills and a few crappies. It is really a hit and miss hole on the crappies. You will catch more bluegills. As far as cattail slough you GOT and I mine got to be very careful there. There is springs that keep the ice very thin. God rest the soul of a few guys that have been kill there. Even on the coldes days ice is still very thin. Be careful out there.

The is only an inch of ice by the dock next to the bait shop. Just got back from checking it out. Might still be a few weeks if the temps don't drop.

I second the caution comment about Cattail Slough.  It is right out my front door, and the open water changes daily as it freezes.  I would not recommend getting on that ice.  Live to fish another day!

Yeah, I'm definitely heeding that warning. I can always wait until spring and put my boat in there.

The Cattail Slough warning is even printed in the Illinois fishing regulations.  Lots of springs in there.
