Newbie to Ice fishing

Hello all!
 I thought I would introduce myself. I started fishing about 2 years ago. My father in law got me "hooked" (Bad pun but it fits). Last year was my first time trying to ice fish. I will say it was quite eerie being on the ice. I had a great time. Growing up in a warm climate makes me a little spooked being on ice but I think I can get around that.

I may even take my kids out to try it. (Also need them to turn the manual ice auger I have)  ;D

welcome to the great sport of fishing and better yet the even greater sport of ice fishing you came to the right place a lot of great people here willing to share there knowledge and skills. I grew up in Michigan so I'm not new to hard water but mostly just fished for panfish through theice living in aAlaska now its a new opportunity to fish for trout and char been on ice shanty about a week now and have been given a lot of advice and tips that should make this one of the best years on the ice I've had well good luck and tight lines

Welcome from southeast New York . Just for your information a company called Stabilicer does make ice cleats/creepers in children's sizes for when you bring your kids. One warning about this website be careful you do not spend more time reading about ice fishing rather then actually fishing.

in the streams but this 20 year old obsession with ice cannot be understood. Still trying to figure out why I kneel at a friggin hole in the ice but when they aren't biting it keeps my mind busy cause the next strike may just be the one I have been chasing. Have fun and stay safe!
