access question
« on: Nov 14, 2014, 08:13 PM »
Hi all - I routinely fish with a couple of guys from Maine.  We usually fish border lakes so we can all bring our sleds/wheelers without having to register in the other state.  Last few years I've put my shack out on Great East, Balch or Province.  Looking for a new body of water to try out...looking to see if anybody knows how the access it to Horn Pond?  Maps show an access but it is next to a dam so wondering if it is sound enough to launch a shack with snowmobiles during ice time.

Thanks for any input!!!

Most times I've fished there We come in off Canal St and parked along side the road near Wilson Pond
I just want to go ice fishing and ignore my adult problems

There is a spot right off canal rd where you can access. We have put a shack on there a couple times but parking is very limited. (Right along the shoulder of the road)

i think lovell lake might be border lake as well. definitely one of my favorite lakes. plenty of parking and poor peoples pub right across the street from the access point. doesn't get much better than that, easy parking, great fishing and great food.
I hate my username. I made it when I was 14 and I dont know how to change it.

Agree with Coffin Dodger. Its probably a stones throw from Maine but is not a border lake.

Great fishing there though! My 12 year old brother caught a nice Cusk there last march on a jigging rod - certainly was a thing of beauty!

I also fish with maine folk so we like boarder lakes as well. Canal st is the best access for Horn, you can get your house out from there. Milton 3 ponds is also a boarder lake and a little closer, but have never fished there.
