Just a warning to folks that there is a slushy area at the mouth of Elbow Harbour where water has flooded the ice. Quite deep, so take care. A few trucks have been stuck there already.

Fair bit of now on the ice now and drifts are hard. Definitely need a 4X4 to get around now. Able to see fine today, but with flat light, like the past couple of days, it was brutal to see the drifts.

Haha.

We were there yesterday by the turbines. Saw 2 decent sized pike, that's about it.

Well after a really cold morning and botching our first spot we managed to drag up 1 six pound pike. Lacklustre to say the least but was a good day!!!

Anybody fishing around Beaver Flat?  I'm headed out that way March 7 and I know where to go in the summer but have never tried the hard water...  I'm using sleds and a sleigh for gear so totally mobile.  Any help would be appreciated.

There were a couple of shacks off Birsay Pt. Last one was brought back across the lake yesterday. Like poorfisherman said, there are plenty of deep hard drifts. I was out yesterday and going was real tough.

Water is pretty cloudy at Beaver Flats. Probably better off fishing 10 miles east of Beaver Flats in the Bear Paw Bend area. The eyes will be 25'-35'. Pike should start moving into the shallower bays.

Will be heading out that way in the AM.  I'll let you know how it goes.  Anyone know how the fishing is at the mouth leading into SC Creek?

I have not been down there for a while. Road going off highway didn't look to bad. In the trees might be thick.

I haven't been out for a week, but the last time I was still able to get through. Was close, so with the past cold snap, might not be a bad idea to have one with you. Snow may have insulated it enough. Gonna give it a try today.

Just back from outside of Elbow Harbour. Slow fishing. Had to go right to the top of the auger to get through ice.

Trail had been plowed to get a shack off. Stayed close to it. Maybe after snow settles it will be easier getting around.

Fished at trout farm 3 weeks in a row ice is a good 8 inches from motor when you go through. Not counting snow. But it's diefy and the ice will vary a lot I guess. Also noticed it's cloudier then any other year I've bin out. Maybe letting more water out then usual?

Lots of snow on shore and on ice at Coteau Bay. There may be sand in ice near shore. Blades were dulled at the beginning. Struggled to make two holes. Perch were biting.

Fished Diefenbaker Friday and Saturday, ice was really dirty dulled the blades on my Eskimo Z71 and then my NilsMaster to the point where you couldn't even drill a hole.  If you fish Diefenbaker or anywhere near sandy areas bring extra blades!
