I have question for you guys. Will snow make water temps drop faster?Hope to clarify your question. I think that snow will lower the temperature of the water. However, if you have a thin layer of ice and snow covers it, it would be like putting a blanket over the ice. It will insulate the ice and put a halt to the ice making process. Just my 2 cents.
I guess I'm asking if it snows enough will the slushy water freezes faster because the wind won't make as much waves.
Snow CAN help to get water temp down. Wind can also help to get the water temp down but to get it to freeze less wind is better as still water freezes easier than moving water. And if the surface is freezing I like some snow in it as ice that is slightly cloudy does help to keep shallow fish from being so spooky.
