X2 on the Big Buddy. You don't have to use both burners. But you always have that option if you need it. (and you will) Tip: Get one of those 5# bottles and a hose and you won't have to carry a bunch of 1#ers with you.

I have a Jr for my one man flip, and it will keep the edge off when running it in my JM 5000 Thermal . But keeping the "edge" off won't cut it for when my grandson comes up from TX this Christmas, or for the kids at the Hooked on Hardwater event, so I'm adding a Big Buddy to the arsenal. Along with a 5# bottle as wyofarmer says!

There is one other option that Mr. Heater Offers and its called the Mr. Heater Hunting Buddy Heater. It is smaller than the Big Buddy and Bigger than the Buddy Heater. I have it and I run it on Low all day long in my Eskimo 949 insulated hub style shanty and sit in my flannel shirt with no jacket all day long..

So you have lots of options depending on what you want to purchase..

You will not regret buying the Big Buddy, It also gives you the option of a fan, quick coupler for the hose attachment and 3 heat settings....what more can you ask for. If you watch the sales you can get the big buddy for very little more.

The difference between an 8" hole and a 10" hole is.....a 10" hole will usually give you your boot back!

In the food chain of life...its not good to be referred to as: "a good eating size".

I have a regular buddy heater and in a Cabela's 5 sided pop up I'm pretty warm, I can still fish in a t-shirt so you wont be disappointed either way. If you can get the big buddy at a good price that's great but if not the regular buddy heater isn't so bad.

I'd go with the big buddy too.   The fan is nice and if you use a bigger tank you can buy a rechargeable 6 volt battery similar to a flasher battery and wire it into one side where one of the 1 pounders go.   The battery lasts along time and it's rechargeable instead of going through all of the c or d battery's that it takes.

I use a mr heater sunflower. It is cheaper and works at high altitude I have heard of problems with the o2 sensor shutting down the mr heater buddies at high altitude. Also you can turn the sunflower heater and make coffee on it

I have both of the heaters, but with the new bigger camper I use my big buddy to keep a little heat going in the 12 foot high ceilings and I do not go through a 30# cylinder in three days any more and my batteries stay charged a little longer, the fan is a great addition when I use my heater in my Denali 4 the fan pushed the hot air over the sled so the kiddos on the other side stay just as warm as the people on the side of the heater.  And adding the hose and a 5 or 10lb bottle lasts a long time.  I can run my heater on low for 4 days straight on a 10lb bottle.  The other nice thing is with the toy hauler camper the mud room I can put the little heater back there and run it on low to keep all the gear warm and dry and only use a 10lb tank in 4 days but when you are out and about you can shut it off and it lasts longer, just my rant of how much I like these heaters and I know the oxygen sensors work because they have shut off before and the other sensors I have have not alarmed but once open the door to the shanty or let a little more air in the heater starts up and runs nice, boy it gets cold out on the ice quickly when the heater shuts off though.

I've got the little buddy, and it does great in the one man or 2 man shanty.  I really like the automatic shut off when it tips over - saved my butt a few times!

I went through this dilemma about a month ago.  For me the answer was simple i would rather have bought too much heater and only have to run it on low. Then have bought the smaller unit and kicked myself later because it was a touch to small on the really cold days.

I have both and the big buddy definitely has a more efficient burn.  Your eyes will sting less with the big buddy.

Yes... unless you have the green hose(designed for use w/o filter) ...the regular propane hose breaks down and gets into the workings of the heater ...filter are relatively cheap and I have seen one get gummed up and inoperable because of non filter use

The Big Buddy heater is good and the  inline filter is a must...in my opinion.
That set up with a 5 or 10 lb. bottle is the  way to go... you will enjoy it.
We have three seasons on one and a bunch of hours... no issues.

We always leave a vent open to allow moisture and exhaust to exit.
We are in and out for tip ups also.  Set your door to the down wind side.
I would not seal off the bottom with snow and close everything tight. You need to vent and have fresh air.
Getting out of the wind makes it nice.  A little heat to warm the fingers and you are good to go.
