I’m going with first week of December for small ponds for South and west of Bangor. Maybe a week earlier up north. I’d bet no good ice on medium lakes and ponds before the end of December. Big water, Early January - Sebago and Tunk same or later. ;D

Season doesn't open until December 1 in my part of the state. I'll probably be fishing on that day. I don't plan to travel east or south to fish before then.

I put my first traps in last year on November 25th. This year looks like it will be around the same time if this cold air thats coming stays with little wind..

Was up your way on moose hunt.  Stayed  near Fish River Lake, what beautiful country!!  A lot of birds, but no moose, weather didn't help.  Was a good time regardless.  You guys will be on some ice late next week I bet.

Am I alone in that this fall has been pretty warm? Here in NH I was on 4 inches of ice by November 27 and lake Winnipesaukee's water temperature is still running at about 49 degrees right now..... Much warmer than last year. Hopefully we will have a good 5 inches of ice by opening day (Jan 1st). Doesn't often happen though. More polar vortexes!  :o

Last year was pretty cold in  NH. This year might not be quite as cold, but if the trend we see now holds, it won't be too far off.

Last year we had a white Thanksgiving. That might or might not happen this year, but I'd be really surprised if it wasn't a white Christmas for NH/ME. I remember seeing ducks on open ponds in Keene, NH in January 3 or 4 years ago. I doubt that will happen this year.

The mid sized lakes in southern Maine probably won't skim over completely until the very end of December.
