I am currently building a new shack, I put one in at 36"x57".  I have a 5x8 shack and basically the back 3' is hole.

Sitting side by side or across from each other?  Either way, that should be plenty big enough for 2 people.

I plan on possibly putting 2 on my hole as well, it will be a bit cramped for me though.

Not to hijack, but I was wondering, do you spearing guys wear a PDF? If I was sitting staring down a hole, I would probably tip right in.

I don't.  I've never heard of anyone else doing so.  I have seen some people put a "rail" in front of the hole.

It's not as weird as it sounds.
