Croton Dam Pond!?
« on: Oct 28, 2014, 03:50 PM »
Relatives bought a cottage near by Croton Dam Pond and plan on taking a few trips up to fish! Would like to catch some panfish to fry up! Any one have any experience here and could help me out?? Also where is the "original riverbed" located?

The original riverbed is where the river used to be before they dammed it up. It usually winds around all over the bottom of the reservoir. Get in a boat before it freezes and use a depth finder and gps to mark the location of the riverbed. It will be deeper than the rest of the reservoir and you can follow it along to mark your spots. I hope this helps and good luck.

I actually pulled up a depth map and i can make out where it drops and rises. It does wind around through the lake, Thank you!

No problem, having a chart will make a huge difference!

There will be plenty of people out there fishing. I would start where others are, learn the water, good baits and have a good time.
