I had one for 5-6 years and it ran fine but sold my truck and didn't  want any gas seepage in my car trunk. Went to a hand auger because most of the lakes I fish only get 4-7 in of ice.

I actually bought one last season...It works great! Has alot of power gets down through the ice no problem.....Only problem I would have is getting it started when it was super cold out...Like 0-5 degrees....Instead of 1 or 2 pulls to start it took about 5 or 6....But thats not really a problem....I never had it not start before so all is good...You should get one.

A buddy I fish with all the time bought one last year.  Cuts and runs great.  Never had a problem with it starting even in -20f.  It's a nice solid auger that's light and doesn't break the bank.  Only problem with it is the blades were getting a little dull at the end of the year.  We drilled a lot of holes through a lot of ice.

I don't have the Stingray but I have the Mako (43cc, 10" auger) and it is a great auger and up here we get to use our augers more than most wish too.

I have to say I need a rest long before the auger does!

This auger is lite and easy to handle, cuts great in fresh as well as frozen holes. I guess a true testament is: " If I was to buy another auger would I buy another Mako" Yes, I would in a heartbeat!!

Up to the 12" extension and still no water!

The difference between an 8" hole and a 10" hole is.....a 10" hole will usually give you your boot back!

In the food chain of life...its not good to be referred to as: "a good eating size".

Had mine for 9 years. I love the thing. Cousin in Northern Minny has had his for ten; still going strong. Great augers. See it laying there in the snow?  Go over here and read 121 pages about them. ;)

They've been a big seller for us the last 5 years.  For 300 bucks, they're hard to beat.  I don't have one, but a number of friends do and they've treated them pretty well out on the ice.  You should be happy with it for sure!

I should have said 'around 300 bucks'.  $229 is a steal this season! Cheapest I've seen online was 255+shipping.  The rest are $270-$349.99.  Regardless, my point was, that its a great, affordable auger and its been a very popular one in my store.  We've had nothing but good reviews from them.  I had planned to get one myself but decided to try out the Ion instead when they came out a few years back.  Overall, I've been very happy with all of eskimo's products and the few problems I did have over the years, their customer service department helped me take care of very quickly.

Anyways...enjoy your new auger hardwaterwalker.  You should be happy with your purchase. :).  If we get ice anything like last year, it'll sure get a good workout.

Well, you may be right after all! Fleet Farm has had them on sale for $229 around Christmas in the past, I just checked the current price with them...$299! I stand corrected, sir! Guess they've gone up like everything else!  ;D

Good luck with the new auger.  A few things I will suggest is use quality oil in it with stabilizer, use the mix ratio they recommend, don't press down on it while drilling the hole - you don't have to it'll drill down on it's own and if you press down you'll just make it work harder and possibly bind the blades, and follow the maintenance recommendations and it'll last you a long time.

Sadly the only way you'll get non-ethanol gas here in northeastern Pennsylvania is to buy the canned pre-mixed gas.

Eskimo stingray 33CC is $270 on Glens Army Navy website.  Spend an extra $30 and get the Mako 43CC for $300.  I have the Mako and it is a good auger.

I lost my bolt which connects the auger bit to the motor head.   Just went and got a replacement and fired my stingray up for the first time this year.  started right up 2nd pull.  Ran great!  BTW the replacement bolt is a 3/8-16 x 1-1/4" socket cap they sell at any hardware store if anyone is looking for a replacement.  I love the Stingray it's a beast!

You got a great deal there.  I was at Cabela's in Hamburg on Monday and they had the Stingray on sale for $320, regularly $350, and the Mako was on sale for $350, regularly $380.  Good luck with your new auger, I'm sure you like it a lot.  Make sure you use the proper mix ratio and quality oil, such as the Viper oil.
