Weather

What's up with this weather man. It's end of October and it's still nice out! Last year it was freezing out by now and ice was right around the corner. I keep hearing about this farmers almanac saying it's going to be a harsher winter then last year but I'm starting to second guess that now. Either weather man is completely wrong again and it's going to be a crap watery winter, or weather man is going to be completely wrong and we're going to get slammed with snowfall and freezing temps coming from nowhere out of the blue.

I don't know what page all of you are on but I was ready to hard water fish last week. So bring on the freezing temps Mother Nature.

I posted this (post below) in another thread...all the forecasts are for a carbon copy of last year's winter...and now this prediction. They seem to change it every week. I've never seen an accurate long range forecast in all my years, and probably never will. What comes, comes, and you make the best of it.  Two years ago at Thanksgiving, I was fishing in shorts and a T-shirt. Last year freezin' my gnarly's off. We'll find out soon enough, I guess.  ::)

Latest prediction:

Forecast: A warm winter should keep costs down

Posted: Friday, October 10, 2014 9:32 am
NATHAN HANSEN, Tribune News Service

There's hope we won't have a repeat of last year's brutal winter, with historically low cold temperatures raising heating bills and a propane shortage causing a lot of financial pain for rural residents.

Forecasts from the National Climate Prediction Center paint a much warmer picture than last year, with the center's current outlook for November through January showing a good chance for warmer-than-average weather. This warmer weather should reduce heating costs for most residents as consumption lessens.

my goal is to be on ice on the Sunday after thanksgiving if we get ice by then. I got a feeling once the temps drop we will get ice fast, at least this is what I am hoping for.

checked this one outlet area on this one lake by me yesterday. it was skimmed over with ice (10 foot area between the shore and cat tails) went back today to get a picture with my other camera and it was melted and open again. atleast the water is showing signs of being cold enough to freeze. still and hoping to be on ice by the end of the month but time will tell.
