Is there a date set for the derby yet? We went last year and had a blast looking forward to going again this year.

Thanks for asking smarge. Chris (BigBuck) has already set the date for January 31st 2015. He is sending the flyer to ADK Roy for posting under "Ice Fishing Contests and Derbies" Page. We are anticipating a much bigger tournament this year with bigger payouts.

Where/What Ice Show, Boggie?

There are two in Syracuse: one at the State Fair Grounds the weekend of Jan. 24th & 25th, the other is at the Oncenter the weekend of Jan. 17th and 18th. Haven't heard about the Gander Mt. Show yet, but I think it's a safe bet it will happen (usually the first weekend in January).

There is also one in Niagara Falls on Jan. 24th and 25th that will be the largest expo for fishing (open water and ice) in the state. For ice fishing Clam, MakiPlastic, Automatic Fisherman, NYS IPA/Winter Classic, and several tackle shops are already commited to the show, and Scott from Maki will be doing his whole kids set-up. It's going to be geared towards education (the LOTSA school and expo are hosted there) with at least 25 seminars on ice fishing related topics alone, and 75 others on other aspects of fishing and outdoors activities. Ya, but I heard the GM thing in Cicero was "iffy" for this year.  Those other events -- EH!  I'll be on the ice - thanks, but no thanks.

Now there's the 2 man tourney, Sandy creek fire dept derby, & hopefully the Christine reed memorial derby from the sandy pond sportsman assoc.

All for charity, plus the sandy creek FD raffle for some cool prizes!
Last year brought out some anglers from as far away as PA & the same distance north of here.
Everyone can catch something even if you suck. Just ask the PA guys.

Boggey right you are, I will try my best.  Although actually wasn't being mean. The more the merrier at these events.  I in fact was directing the merely smart arse comment at a few I know from PA & a couple others from last yr who talk a bit of smack on their own & travel up here several times a year.

Even one guy in particular who still remains merely a lurker here. Trying to taunt him out of hiding.

I was there today at lunch and a person in the fishing dept when I asked if they were doing an ice show told me no and what they had on display was it for ice fishing season. I was'nt real impressed.

Wish it wasn't scheduled for the same weekend as the Chaumont Bay/Black Lake Ice Pro-Am event, otherwise Team Finders Keepers would be in. Maybe next year!
