Ohhhh, here we go. This is the WORST time of year for IceShanty... when the Alaska guys are fishing everywhere and we just get to see pictures.

Keep sending those pictures.

Had the fireplace running all day here. Rained all day here and snowed in the mountains around me 3 days in a row now.

Maybe the precip can hold off a bit.  Still have a poker run to do this weekend on the wheeler.  Bring on the cold.

Its been below freezing a few times this month here in central MN. 52 right now, and it will freeze again tonight, 28 according to the weather man. I'd like it to get some ducks moving. Some of the local ducks are leaving, but I saw very few migratory ducks last weekend. Its still mostly wood ducks.

No curly tails?? I used to hunt the heck out of ducks when I lived in MN!! Used to chase geese after school and pull a sneak on them when they set down!! The good old days!!! Thanks for bringing back some fond memories!!

Migration is just starting here.  We hunted near the Canadian border last weekend.  LOTS of birds starting to migrate in.  Heading there again this weekend.  Mostly mallards and pintails with some mud ducks thrown in.

Had a bull moose decide to check out our decoy spread.  Was headed our way until we pulled the trigger on some geese.  He made a quick turn and ran about 100 yards and looked as us for a while.  Pretty cool.

I won't make it out this weekend, but I will hunt next, and I expect it to be pretty good. For some crazy news, Annandale/Maple Lake had a moose in the area, and was hit by a car. Usually moose are found in the upper third of the state, and even then, its only in the NW and NE corners. Annandale is 150-200+ miles from anywhere you can find moose with any regularity. How it made it that far, around st. cloud, over I-94, and gets hit on highway 55 2 miles from my house I will never know. There was a moose sighting near st. cloud about a week before it happened, so it is presumably the same one. Kind of off topic, but very unusual. Maybe a sign of a cold winter, even the moose are snow birds. BTW the people in the accident are just fine.
