I talked to the fishing guys at the Scheels in West Des Moines on Friday.

It sounded like from talking with them that they hope to get their ice fishing equipment out a lot earlier than last year.  Seemed like last year it was near the end of October before they really had stuff out and it sounded like they were aiming for end of September or beginning of October this season.

Again, this is just in conversation though who knows if that will really happen or not.

WDM Scheels is up and running for ice fishing this year. They were stocked up well for this time of year. I spoke with an associate and he says still more to come. Only thing I didnt see was shacks.

Cabela's in PDC was just starting to get stuff out on Saturday. They also had a Lx-9 in their bargain bin that needed a new battery for around $900 if anyone is liking for a good deal on one

We have some out now here at polk city bait. Larry and jeremy are at the trade show right now making orders for the season. We should be fully stocked within 3 weeks from today.

I was on a bus and just happened to be sitting on a news paper. This guy came up and asked. "Are you reading that ?"
I said  yes, stood up, turned the page and sat back down.

Scheels in Sioux Falls had a majority of their ice fishing stuff, lots of rods and reels. They have way more stuff than they have in the past with the new expansion. I assume they will get more ice shacks as the season gets closer, right now they had 7 shacks out.

Was in the Muscatine F/F this week and they said another week or so before they get everything out - they're busy working on toyland lol

I saw that Scheels in Coralville had some jigs that looked very similar to Brantler's

Made it to Bass Pro Altoona today and they have a nice bigger ice section than I have seen in past years. They do have a few Clam Auger plates for anyone who is looking for one. Nice selection of jigs, accessories and shacks, however only a few ice rods and reels. An associate told me they are expecting rods, reels, and a lot more to come. I had a little extra time so I tried Fleet Farm again.... to my total shock the same pallet of merchandise was in the same aisle and it appeared like nothing more was done.....  ??? ??? ???. FF they gotta step it up!!!

Rolled into FF Ankeny with money in pocket thinking they would have the shelves packed with hard water gear. Man was I disappointed with the ice fishing section......... It's the WORST in the Des Moines Area!!! I honestly cannot believe they STILL have empty aisles. So I went to Scheels and they got another chunk of my hard water fund. Heck, I'm nearly ready to give up on em!!!

Fleet Farm has more than anyone when it's stocked and they keep it longer. Give it time, patience young grasshoppa!
