Ice houses broken into?

Is theft and brake ins a big problem for areas that allow permanent houses on the ice ?

Pisces, I've never had a problem with mine, but there is nothing of much value left behind, and I never lock it. The most valuable thing left in there would probably be the wood stove, but it's screwed down. My son's buddy has had his broken into on the same lake more than once, door ripped off, Mr. Heater stolen, assorted tackle. I guess if there's nothing to take, they should leave it alone. (But that's all wishful thinking)

Sadly the risk is always there for thievery or destruction. The saying "a lock only keeps an honest man out" sums it up. No matter how well secured or locked, if they want in they will get in. Most stories I hear whether it be shanty's or hunting shacks is if they don't find anything of value they end up trashing it in anger.  >:(
