Many find no problems with Strikemaster.

Clam Edge auger. same power head as the strikemaster lazers and at a lower price too. both have the 2.5 HP solo motor. I ran a 8 inch edge last season and was totally happy with it. the only thing I would like to see is a 6 inch drill for the power head. the good thing is that the strikemaster drills will fit the power head so I might just get a 6" lazer bit and put that on the power head.

I own an 8" and 9" Jiffy, if I were to buy another gas auger, it would be the Strike Master 35cc Honda.

I was wondering if anyone has used the Honda with a chipper blade setup?

Does anybody know if the Honda fourstroke has pretty good power compared to the solo 3hp

You are comparing a 54 cc 2 stroke to a 35 cc 4 stroke. The solo 3 hp will have a ton more power in comparison. The 4 stroke is geared down slightly to compensate for the lack of power. With the 8" lazer auger it looks like it cuts fine. I'd bet the 4 stroke really struggles with a chipper blade, especially in 10". I would much rather have a propane auger.

Why mess with gas, why not the Ion electric, I have gas and if I hadn't bought it 2 years ago I'd get the Ion.

i would rather mess with gas than have to carry around a bunch a batteries.  i have not tried one of the electrics but there is no way one battery would last on a perch fishing day with 3 feet of ice.  dont see how so many people get gas everywhere just pour it in slow and if you have to bring a extra pair of gloves to use for putting gas in the auger then do so.  my strike master lazer pro 8" cuts ice as fast as i need it too and starts first couple pulls every time.
some days I can drink a lot of beer and other days only a case

An old Jiffy model 30 for me. Works great. Next one I buy when I do is going to be a Strikemaster Solo. Haven't heard anything bad about the solo unlike the Honda so far. Much lighter and I'm always up for less pounds to haul.

My father bought a Strikemaster Magnum 2000 when I was young. We used it for a lot of years with no issues. I am going on the fourth season with my Strikemaster Lazer Pro 10", and I have had no issues with it.

It's only a 1.6hp motor, so a 10" chipper would be out for me. I've cut close to 100 holes with the 8 and the 10" Lazer blades with no issues. Ice thickness was about 2 feet.

My buddy who owns the 10" said his only two complaints were rough starts in severe cold and having to open his filler cap to check gas.

i like my tanaka over my 2 jiffey 30's, ease of starts, not much smoke, really light, runs upsideown, on its side, drills fast with the nils head. i like the handauger head over the powerpoint head with the nils. i also run amsoil 80 t0 1 in it, have run it indoors in the kitchen
