Newbie here, need help

Hello all!
  I have a few questions and maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
 I will be in Smithfield Maine, at Northpond from Aug 14-20ish.
 I am wanting to do some Pike fishing during this time, but being from Texas I dont know much about Pike, and if they are active during Mid August.
If they are, what lures/bait should I use? If any of you have any other advice on any other fish in that lake and what is biting at that time, feel free to tell!
