When I saw the commercial for this show for the first time my immediate reaction was "man, they'll make a tv show out of just about anything these days". I expect the "mindless entertainment" factor to be very high with this show.

About 90% of TV is mindless entertainment, IMO. I'm hoping for the best with this... $:-\$

I'm kind of stoked over the idea of something fresh being on for the first time tonight, you know, kind of like a new jig or rod you've been fondling all summer.....just waiting to see if its worthy or a POS.....

On the flip side, the entertainment value should be exceptional right here someplace if it's a bomb......like some other things.......

It's about the people here in Yellowknife that live on house boats all year long in Yellowknife bay.
It was filmed during last falls freeze up and into spring of this year.
One of the people in the show is a fishing guide and friend of mine.

Hopefully it is an interesting show.

I did take a couple of peaks from watching the final episode of "The Hunt" about hunting Kodiak brown bears.

From what I saw from the sneak peeks it will probably get deleted before the 15 minute mark.

Ya, that sure was a wash. Not terrible; just not real good. All these "reality type" shows seem to be a big crock of nothin'. They hype up everything that should just be common sense.

I watched a little bit of it ...not my cup of tea ...but they didn't seem to portrayed them like a bunch of idiots (other then being on a house boat in the winter in Canada ) ...unlike Ice Holes which was shot like REAL ICE FISHERMAN OF IDJIGT HILLS.

I recorded it and watched a few minutes before I went to bed. I'll watch the rest tonight. It is interesting that they are going to live on a houseboat while the lake is frozen. They were preparing for winter and said there's about a month when they are stranded in their boat because the ice isn't strong enough to walk on and let them out. I always thought leaving a boat in a lake while it freezes would crush it.

I'm gonna watch to see what happens when the lake is frozen. At least it will be scenes of ice. I do agree that "reality" shows are dramatized, scripted, b.s., but man I want to see that ice!

I will say it was better then "ice holes" that show was terrible. The show would b interesting as a documentary but they have to put that reality spin on it and just ruins the show.

I didn't get to see it but recorded it. From the reviews it doesn't look like it's going to be even remotely ice fishing related.

It's not ice fishing related. Just thought it might kinda be fun to see some early ice, since everyone's talking about the heat, didn't expect people to get bent outta shape because it's not all about ice fishing. If you don't care to watch it, don't. It's your choice.

Still trying to catch my shadow ~ it's a busy time of year. From the comments, I'm of the opinion it will be very interesting to watch, as it relates to the many ways of humans. You know, what's the big word for it, hm, Anthropology.

It's something different.

Do some of you only know one thing and a simple one track to ... Oh, just never freekin' mind, stay in your hole/rut and forget new things !

Well I watched the whole first episode last night and even though there are some of the over-exaggerated reality show moments, I liked it. It portrays a unique lifestyle and takes place in the frozen north. Lots of good footage of freezing conditions and ice. Thanks for posting the reminder Rebel, I would have missed it otherwise.

The preview for next week does show some ice fishing and I will want to see what kind of stone-age gear they use to get it done. I doubt they will have vexilars. haha. They show a guy holding a big pike and another guy dragging some nice salmon. Also the lake will be all froze up, so every scene should have some good ice shots in it. We need this. Watching it in a basement in a house with central air and the fan pointed directly at me really helps with the illusion.

I also found it interesting that in a place with very few women, the two worth looking at were lesbians. That's gotta sting for the guys around them. Hilarious. I think they wussed out and left the show already though.

Don't we have some guys from Yellow Knife on here? That's where it takes place.

I watched it and found it kind of interesting. My DVR is set to record the series. Those people live in an area where I would like to live if I were 40 years younger.

Yep, I agree. Heck I just moved into town from the hills and up there I had to split wood for heat and some days I couldn't get out because of snow, (even 6-8 inches cuz of a STEEP driveway)Even the main road didn't get plowed. There was no cell service and the phone lines broke 3 or 4 times a winter. Now I live 1.5 miles from work instead of 16, have about 50 ft of sidewalk to snow-blow, and sweet, sweet cable and internet and phone. Perfect. I go up to the hills for my fishing and come back to my convenient house in town to eat it.
