Slush Inhaler
« on: Jul 12, 2014, 04:26 PM »
80 degrees here today but thinking of ice fishing. Where is the best place to buy a Slush Inhaler or similar product? I think I like the Slush Inhaler design better than the Slush Mate. Having control of the flap versus dealing with the flap possibly sticking open or closed would be an advantage. Any ideas about design or price out there?

I think my slush inhaler was about $50. Got it as a gift from my son years ago.

I believe Cabela's carries the Slush Inhaler among their ice fishing gear offerings . Also think Ice Dawg has the correct price before tax and shipping. I have seen the Slush Inhaler a little bulky for me will take up a lot of room in a sled or shelter. You may also want to check out an item called the Flipper Dipper. The dipper has two flaps that fold up when submerging the device the flaps lay flat when pulling dipper up out of ice hole to collect and remove slush.

I use the Slush Inhaler in my wheelhouse. The flipper Dipper would work well outside or in a portable if it is the right size for the hole size you use.

What's wrong with an old fashion ladle?

The ladle will sure work but when you get 30+" of ice and 6 holes in a wheel house it does take a lot of dipping to clear all the holes. I have used a dipper to clean a lot of holes the last 4 decades but I am looking for something easier and faster.

That looks cool except for the price, $51.99, but I'm sure it works.  Last year I saw a hinged scoop that worked on the same principal.  When you put it down through the slush it opens and then closes holding the ice and draining the water on the way up.

Agreed, I use my skimmer that's adjustable in size and that works perfectly

The Flipper Dipper is what I was describing, I just couldn't remember the name.

I got a Flipper-Dipper last year and they are made very well. Bomb proof plastic and the hinge never sticks. Plus there's a ruler on the side to measure that first hole ice thickness. Great product, especially these days when a lot of stuff is made so flimsy. Prolly wouldn't use it to chip ice around the hole like I do with my metal ladle though.

Thanks, I will try the Flipper Dipper. Not out a lot of money and it should work better than my ladle type dipper.

I ordered the Flipper Dipper and it should be here in a few days. Patiently waiting for the ice, no heat, bugs, crowds, or rattlesnakes.

I got the flipper dipper last year and wish I had got it much earlier.  1 shove and a  98%clean hole. 1 more go and you got it all.

Thanks for the info on the flipper dipper, it's nice to know that at least something is still made well.  As for the rattlesnakes, you wouldn't hear any complaints from me if every snake was gone, that couldn't happen fast enough for my liking.
