Since all I do is work this time of year, I honestly can't wait for the cold. I have spent more on open water gear this year and can't even use it. So I've decided I'm done spending on open water and will start stocking up ice gear. My plan is to spend at least 4 days a week on the ice this year. My next purchase is an lx9 and I can't wait for the heat to be gone and be back out there!

Cheers to ya for that, I schedule my school hours for the ice season and will have 5/7 days free to hit the ice, so I'll be a happy man this season!!!

This year is going to be mainly focused on pike and tigers. I may have a chance to get out on Superior for trophy lakers but other than that, it's all going to be about esox!

My friend works construction and normally gets laid off for the winter so he gets to be out every day, lucky bum. I can't wait to be back out on the ice.

I'm in the same boat. With the long winter months we have, this time of year is all about making money for me. As I much as I enjoy open water fishing, there is just something about the ice I enjoy more. So as soon as I see that first coat of skim ice on the lakes, I forget all about sweating my a$$ off all summer.

Not exactly sure why ...but peering down a fresh auger hole ...watching the spinning Red, Yellow and Green of my Vex ...tipping my jig with a fresh wax worm ...is just so relaxing ,enjoyable and therapeutic ....so I too can't wait for my local honey hole to freeze over and enjoy the company of my fellow ice fisherman .

I agree looking down a hole in the ice is one of the best ways to relax for me. To make it even better add a light snow on a silent day, you can almost hear the snowflakes hit the ground. Not much comes close to how relaxing that is.

Hard water can never come soon enough for me, but we did just finish a long season and so being on ice until April 6 helps get me through until December. Besides, I need hot weather to grow my garden and pick wild berries , other passions of mine. I am always thinking about ice time though.

No matter how long our season is it seems like an eternity until we can be back on the hard water. I can't wait to get back out.

I am so sick of summer already. I am seasonal worker so it's balls to the wall till fall sweating outside all summer just dreaming of being in my shanty jigging for perch. I pray for another artic vortex and good ice, it seems all we did this past July 4th sitting lakeside was talk about how great winter was, as we battled bugs and heat. Till then it's buying ice gear now since I have more cash these days then in the winter. Can't wait...

Exactly. Work hard during the off season to afford spending the days on the ice. I'm really looking forward to this season. I'm getting stocked up and have nice brand new electronics coming.

I hated too see the ice go out I just wait to be back out there i did really good with the lake trout hope to keep 8th up this yr last yr was first time fishing for them

It was my first year as well and every time I went for them I did well also. When you way 8th, are you referring to Fulton chain?
