Good Morning Marv, Morning Everyone,
58* and light winds out of the SSE this am, high of 75 possible today.
Marv...sounds like the electrician did a good job, agree with you on watching the pro's do their thing, always enjoyed that myself. Hope that cold front moves out soon and some better weather moves in for you. Good luck with the side job and trip to F&F...wish we had one around here!
  WB...good one!!   :roflmao:
Manitron2...Welcome to the 9:45! I had a problem not so long ago similar to yours. I contacted two of the moderators and they let Scot know about it....he fixed the problem for me quickly...might want to give that a shot, good luck!
Steve...Thank You...he will be released today from the hospital.
Tom...I'm not very familiar with diabetes and blood sugar levels as it does not run in my family, BIL was the same,  but I have been reading up on it quite a bit over the last few days. His BS level was 690 when he entered the hospital...the Dr. told him basically the same thing as you mentioned...he was very very close. His vision was still blurred yesterday, but they reassured him it would return...crossing fingers.

Made the first trip with the boat yesterday, caught that striped cat like Bud told us about... ;D.   Marked a ton of fish, just couldn't get any to fire. I was mostly trolling Lake Clear Wabblers and small Christmas tree's with worms and small spoons. Shared the lake with two older gentlemen doing pretty much the same thing, they missed one, but that was the only bite they had.
Going to try again here shortly, all ready to go....switching gears a little today. Will try trolling again for the first hour or so, then going to try drop shotting some small plastics and GULP minnows to see if that triggers anything.
Time to get moving....cawfee's on...nothing under the dome this am... :roflmao:
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!

Morning all,

Eddie.....glad to hear your BIL is coming around  hope he's able to get his bs under control. hope you have better luck on the water today  ;)
IFF.....sorry to hear you're having such lousy weather    :(  but please don't send it this way when you're done with it  :nono:
WS....sounds a bit chilly for a kayak trip today    :-\  walleye season opens here next weekend
H2L....great news on the wife  amazing the things the docs can do  :)

Been fishing Ontario for browns the past 2 days....what a blast   started out pretty slow, we went 3/3 Wednesday. Yesterday we went 7/8 with browns, a coho & a steelhead  @) sizes ranged from 19" to 26" all were returned except 2 that we couldn't revive  :-\  We have definitely found a new pass time while waiting for walleye season to open  ;D

Have a good day at work or play. Stay safe.

Good morning early risers. Weather forecast for my area is similar to Eddie's also possible pop-up rain showers and thunder storms.
Manitron2 welcome to the thread feel free to visit as you please. Sorry to hear about your problems with change in Email address and having to register again as a new member. I value my post total also should reach 4 thousand by years end.
IFF I'm working Saturday and most likely Sunday also in what free time I have will prepare snow blower for off season storage and get lawn mower out and hopefully mow the lawn. I'm off today plan to attend boys lacrosse game between my high school Alma Marta and neighboring school district. This season the boys need plenty of support winless to this date.
OldSailor thank you for keeping the joke thread supplied with a new daily joke during Ice Wanderer's absence. Hope all is well with you.
Whopper Stopper when you combine a low temperature and high wind it sure chills you quickly especially if you are not moving around constantly. Don't leave to much of your money at Fleet Farm. I agree watching a pro do their job is funthey make everything look easy. I'm sure you have folks watching you and the crew work from time to time.
Eddie good to read your BIL will be heading home soon , I'm also not that familiar with diabetes but know 690 is a very high blood sugar level. May the doctors be correct and his vision return with time. Have a safe and fun fishing trip. I thought you were going to pass through my area one day this week and take a couple of your grand kids to the Bronx Zoo.
Wallyworld congratulations to you and your husband one the fish.  . Did you try my suggestion about fishing by any power plant warm water discharges or catch the fish else where .
Icefisher-45 may you receive the go ahead to return to work. Glad therapy has helped your shoulder. Hope you are not still having any numbness in your arm.

Have a good and safe Friday . Best to all fishing don't for get to bring the PFD's and arm the cartridge on auto inflating models.

Well looks like I slept in, looks nice out, no wind, clear skies, 38* warming to maybe 45, but here I set,  ::) Tomorrow is when the not so nice is to arrive.  This is almost like watching paint dry, or the grass grow.  Now I see I have no internet connection, might have to go get a new modem.  Just another one of those depressing things to have happen.  At least I can save what I have up to this point.  Well I B it just came back on.

Busy day tomorrow. Grand daughter graduates with her 5 year degree in Music Education. She called her grandma on seventh heaven today. She has a job teaching elementary and middle school music with a good salary. The school will pay for her getting her masters degree. the only down fall is that the job is in Arizona. She has been to the town before so she looked into housing etc. when she was there so that is a plus. We are all going out for Asian food after the graduation so it will be a long day.

The guessers are forecasting between 2 and 4 inches of rain through Monday. Sure hope the are way off on those guesses. It looks like the first day of turkey season on Monday might be a wash out. That leaves 30 days to fill my tag so no big deal. I just hope the week end of the 6th is decent so we can get my grand daughter her first turkey.

Eddie I feel for you BIL. He is in for a total change of life style but it is not that bad. A few things that he needs to have is a good  Diabetic Specialist, a Diabetic dietician, and Diabetic education. I am sure he will be on insulin. The way I kept control of my blood sugar was by counting the carbs I ate and adjusting the insulin dosage according to that. Hope fully his team uses that approach. I know that if it had been available when my mother was alive her life would have been much better.

Well, the boat is in the yard. Left it hooked to the truck just in case I want to put it in the lake in the morning for a shake-down run. It was a long day. The truck sure doesn't ride like the wife's SUV....h2l

Well its already arrived, snow flakes the size of half dollars, can barely make out the neighbors roof less than 100 yards away.  A lot of what was coming down an hour ago had melted, and now there is a good 4 inches on the deck.  May amount to more than the guessers thought. was out half hour ago, now can't see where I walked.  :woot:

Eddie hope the BIL gets a handle on what he has to do, if his natural supply of insulin is no longer available, it can be real hard to get used to.

H2L  on getting your boat, what truck you pulling it with ?

Steve yeah see your post on the other thread, about IS in other locations not having much activity once the ice is gone.  Here in Colorado there are two forums, one has I might say has seen a lot of people move on.  The other that I am a lake skipper on has been growing, since I found it in 2010.  Noticed there I have a mountain of posts like 30K  ::)

Tom bet your just as proud as Grandma.  hope the GD does well with the new job.

about time to fire up the fireplace, and get comfortable and see how the baseball game goes.

              Good morning ER's,
I'm back! What a trip, I'll never drive to Florida again, unless I stay for a month or two! The truck traffic on I-95, or I-81,
construction, dumb drivers and accidents. When are they going to start putting a third lane the whole way? Once I got there
we had a nice stay at my brother's house, swimming pool and hot tub and looking over a nice pond! We went to a seafood
restaurant and I had Alligator for an appetizer, taste like chicken. One restaurant there was a Egret bird standing on the railing
behind me, waiting for a handout! There were some problems at my brother's house, the air conditioning was only working
upstairs, so I call his service company and they determined that there was an refrigerant leak but couldn't find it, so they put
dye in and they will be back in two weeks to see where it is!
Speaking of my brother he is doing great in PT, he walked 227 steps being held up by a harness suspended from the
ceiling. The doctors have evaluated him and he is ahead of schedule on his recovery!
I want to welcome   Manitron2 to the 9:45 group, join in everyday, there is something always going on here.
I haven't read all the post since I left, but will go back later and try to catch up, I have some computer issues, it running
slow, maybe it's because it sat idle for so long!
                     Bud......How's the new vehicle running?
I hope everyone has a great Saturday either at work or out fishing!

Good Morning IW! Good Morning Everyone

Welcome back IW  It sounds like you had a nice trip minus the traffic :cookoo: Glad your Brother continues to show good response to the PT.

Hang in there with the snow Bud :%$#!:

Congrats on the good fishing WW, hope you get to make it out a couple more times before the walleye fever sets in

I have to go across the street today and knock down a tree for my neighbor. We plan on making a fire and hanging out by the fire pit for the day. Tomorrow the weather turns and rain with snow moves in through Monday afternoon.

I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend and good luck if you get to a lake  Stay safe!

Good Morning Jeff, Marv, Morning Everyone,
Overcast and 62* this am, high of 70 today.
Welcome back Jeff!! Glad you had a nice trip less the driving...long ride for sure! That's great news on your brother, continued success on his recovery...   bet it feels great to be back in your own bed again... ;D
Marv...hope the tree job goes well, enjoy the day around the fire! Hope tomorrows weather doesnt drop too much snow on you...some crazy weather going on out that way!
Bud...yikes, man that's a lot of snow! Will be interesting to hear how much is on the ground today...feel for you out there, not my idea of a Rocky Mtn. High!!   ;D
H2...congrats on the boat! Hope she runs perfect for you today on the maiden voyage!
Tom...enjoy the graduation today, congratulations to your granddaughter, that's awesome!! Will be talking to my BIL later today Tom and will pass along that info....Thank You!
Steve...we had to take a pass on the Bronx Zoo this week as that is on my son and DIL's list coming up soon, they wanted to do that with them. Now kicking around the idea of taking them to see the Statue Of Liberty and the aquarium down there...or possibly Coney Island.
I-45...hope your Dr.'s appt. went well and your good to go!
Wally...congrats on the catches, that's awesome!!      Wish Ontario was closer to me, what a great fishery! Best of luck on the next trip...walleye season is coming up quick!!

Yesterday's trip for me netted another skunk. Fished for almost 5 hours, glad I wasn't fishing for a meal... ;D. There was 5 other boats out and a few kayak's, nobody seemed to be doing anything that I spoke with. Surface water temp was up to 52* when I started...found 54 in one area on the way back in...maybe next weekend things will be better.  Did see the two Eagles and a Loon, several geese and ducks, had an enjoyable float less the catching.
Going to mow the lawn for the first time today, dandelions now popping here as well as those nasty May fly's...the black fly's.
  Cawfee's on....
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!

59 degrees this morning and the lake is like a sheet of glass. Wife has two friends from Rochester coming later today so have a few things to get done around here, then this afternoon may get out on the lake.

My truck is a 2006 Dodge Dakota. It has 102k on it but I had to put a new engine in it at 53k. Dodge was pretty good about the replacement seeing that I had owned 11/12 Jeeps over the years. I do like the new Chevy Colorado. I think yesterdays trip to pick up the boat was the longest for the truck in 7/8 years. Wife is always telling me why do you need gas, you don't go anyplace. But I do; I go look for deer, turkeys, see who is fishing and where, etc...lol....Have a good day....h2l

Morning everyone, Well it's going to be other rainy day today in my part of the country (Illinois). It seem that it has rain almost every day for the pass week or so. It makes a person lazy when it rains so much. Not only raining it is also on the cool side with a north wind. You try to work out in the garage and you get chilled to the bones. If I can't go ice fishing than let it warm-up to go fly-fishing. Have a good day all!!!

Good Morning all, Well Looks like "winter wonderland"outside. Doves were trying to find the plate I put out for them, a little confused to say the least. ::) pulled on my boots and took it out and put it under the picnic table.  Doves flew off, no sooner get in and see the blue jays announcing they found breakfast, Doves returned and Jays were giving them a scolding.  Not so fast buddy, I am here first, wait your turn is what I think the Jays were saying.  Its still snowing, guessers say it will all day.

Welcome back Jeff, nice you had a good visit, and knowing progress is being made.  Haven't been running the pickup, but might be checking out the 4 wheel drive if the snow keeps building up.

Marv, yeah I mowed my lawn too, and now look what happened.  ;D  Guess I shouldn't complain, we need the moisture.  Glad its not like what Fish333 has been getting.

Welcome fish333, that much rain brings on the fish food right ?  Mosquito's you can keep em  ;D  What open water you fish over there ?

Ms WW,  :P on you.

Hunts, When is the maiden voyage ?

Hey Tom, you can have my chair, I'm going out and play in the snow.  :cookoo: :cookoo:

Good afternoon everyone, weather guessers were wrong yesterday we had highs in the mid eighties and sunshine. The lacrosse game was another loss for my Alma Marta . We really need a youth program so kids are not first learning the game at high school level. The score was so one sided the opposing team put in some younger players. I'm guessing 7 or 8TH grade students(most schools in my section of NY. do not have JV or modified teams.) These players were so small in height I said to another person watching the game looks like they have put in the "mini" attack unit  and I'm no giant at only 5'9 inches.
Mr.Turkey hope the weather is good for the graduation . Good to hear your grand daughter already has found a job. Many public school districts have cut back on Music education due to reduced state and federal aid. Does not this grand daughter have a boy friend in the state she has found a job, think she brought him with her when she visited with you this past Fall.
Hunts2long congrats on finally getting the new boat to your home may you have a problem free Maiden voyage.
IFF going by Eddie's post sounds like you may have to fire up the snow blower. Also assume you and others have seen the thread on Gander Mountain filing for bankruptcy may you be able to keep your job. Bluejays seem to be aggressive birds when it comes to food seen them drive away other birds to get to feeders.
Ice Wanderer welcome back traffic on our interstate highways can be challenging glad your home safe. Also good to read your brother is continuing to improve healthwise thank to his PT.
Fish333 my welcome also to this thread. May you see the sun and warmer weather in the coming week.
Eddie if you do take the grandchildren to see Statue of Liberty plan on getting to NYC early on my last visit you had to spend a good amount of time waiting in line to get through security check. Due an internet search there was a boat to Statue and Ellis Island that departed from Liberty State Park in NJ. located off of NJ. Turnpike saves you from some tolls and having to drive and park in Manhattan. This boat also stops at Ellis Island my last visit was back around 2 thousand with relatives from Wyoming we took the boat from park and went to Ellis Island first then the Statue after getting through security we ended up being the last group of people allowed into the Statue of Liberty that day. Also keep a watch on weather forecast if it going to be hot and humid you want to be in and out of the statue early in the day temperatures inside the statue get over 100 degrees on days with outside temps in the high eighties or nineties.
Whopper Stopper all the best with the side job enjoy the fire. Hope next time you mow lawn will not need the bibs and hoodie.
Wallyworld spring appears to have arrived in southeast NY. also have tulips and other flower blooming was able to watch the lacrosse game in a T shirt and jeans .
Icefisher-45 hope you received good news from your doctor.
I have to head to work have a pleasant and safe evening everyone.
Steve

Steve, so far its just collecting on the trees, that have leaves on them.  Will more than likely have some broken ones to tend to a Crabapple is already bowed clear down on the sidewalk.

Hope the high temps don't get carried way going up the east coast.  Keep your sun screen handy Ms WW  ;D

Evening folks! Just thought I would jump in with a little info on what has happened family wise with me. Thursday morning my wife underwent a TKR, a total knee replacement, of her right knee. She was back home on Friday afternoon and using a walker to get around the house!! To say that she is experiencing some pain and discomfort would be an understatement! She is bound and determined to get this knee up and running because the left one needs replaced also!! Arthritis has left has left her with bone on bone knees! The technology used in todays implants is simply amazing!! They use an electronic 'puck' to align everything during surgery, then replace that with the bearing surface and then glue the knee shut. I haven't gotten a look at the knee yet, but will here in a bit!! So far as we know, there are no problems, and she just needs to do her exercises and go through therapy so she can get the other one done! She loves to work in the yard and tend her flower beds, but may have to take the summer off to literally get back on her feet. As for me, I'm doing as good as can be expected for an old fart!! Have a good evening and weekend everybody!!
My two favorite college football teams are Ohio State and whoever's playing Michigan!!!

Don't reel against the drag!!!

Ex Minnesnowta lad! You can take the lad out of Minnesnowta, but you can't take Minnesnowta out of the lad!!

Good Sunday Morning Everyone,
Clear and 42* this am, high of 53 expected here today. Looked at the extended forecast for the next 10 days, a bit of a roller coaster with temperatures but no snow in sight....will be putting away the snowblower for the season today.. ;D
Mike...glad the surgery on your wife's knee went well, best wishes to her on a speedy recovery! Amazed she has been up on it and walking about with a stroller already, wow!!    Wouldn't bet against her being out and tending to her flower garden, especially if she's as passionate about it as we are about Icefishing....wishing her well Sir!
Bud...hope the snow stopped falling and no major damage to your tree's! How much did you end up getting?
Steve..thank you for the info on the Statue Of Liberty, very much appreciated. Have seen it from afar many times but have never been to it myself. Best of luck to the high school team on their next game!
OG...I'm not looking for a Vex at the moment, but I'm sure somebody might be interested! Might be a good idea to knock the dust off of the for sale section here! Hope all is well with you Sir...
Marv...sounds like you had the snowblower gear on to cut the lawn...yikes!! How was the tree job and fire yesterday? Hope everyone had a good time...

Having brunch mid morning with most of the family today. I think two of my sons will be absent, they've been working 6 (10)hr days again rebuilding NY's highways...pretty certain they'll be floating on the Hudson River today fishing for Stripers unless they had a change in plans...guessing they inherited that gene from their old man.. ;D
Stopped by a local lake yesterday for a few casts after running an errand to try and rebuild my confidence after the skunking my last two trip out....second cast, fish on! Caught several small bass, a few big bluegills and one feisty pickerel...nothing big, just enough to let me know I can still catch'em...yeah!!   ;D
  Cawfee's on...
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!
PS..if anybody "wants to watch some really nice and pretty fish being caught",  I think there is a few links out there today...pretty much in every state... Doh!!   :woot: :roflmao:

Good morning Eddie and early risers. Similar weather forecast for my area Eddie mixture of sunny and rainy days for the week.
IFF that is the problem with Spring snow falls it is usually a wet snow and if trees have their leaves a lot of damage can occur to the tress . also higher chance for power outages as broken branches take down the power lines.
OldSailor a good and quick recovery to your wife. My BIL has had both his knees replaced now he has big scars on both knees still likes to wear shorts in the warmer weather. He damaged his knees from playing rugby in college and then with a club team for many years after college. Before his surgery he was bow legged gets around a lot better now a days.
Eddie your welcome on the Statue of Liberty info. if you can avoid having to drive in NYC and pay parking fees plus bridge tolls so much the better for you. Have you ever thought of taking the grand kids up to the Wild Center in Tupper Lake, NY. this museum is dedicated to the animals that live in the Adirondack mountain region of NY.  I've been there once nice place think your grand children would enjoy the place . Have a good brunch with the family. May your sons get into some decent size stripers.

Have a good and safe Sunday folks whatever your plans. Best to all fishing today. I will check back later to see how everyone spent their Saturday and what you all plan to do today.

Good Morning Eddie, mr.clean! Good Morning Everyone

2 days of rain about to start here. Tomorrow morning it will either be snow and rain or just snow for the day. Either way not much for accumulation just wet and windy and cool to boot.

Yesterdays tree job went better than our fire. We stuck it out until shortly after lunch and then came inside. The cold winds were kicking up and we decided there are better days ahead. The girls found some movies on Net Flix and I loaded up a few more 45's.

Glad to hear your wife is doing well OS. Unbelievable how far the Doctors have come with modern techniques. I hope she continues to show good recovery and is able to fine her way to the flowers as long as she doesn't over do it :nono:

Have an excellent time at the brunch Eddie! Sounds like a great time!

Hope you have a good day mr.clean. Any fishing plans in your future?

We are off to Menards in a little bit. The wife has a big list of things to cherry pick so I will go with to help load the truck ???

Hope you all have an Excellent Sunday  Stay safe!

Bud........good luck with the spring snow, they are a nescience!
Eddie.......Steve has a good idea to bring your grand kids to Tupper Lake, if you decide to go to NYC, good luck!
Marv......How did the tree job go?
Yesterday my #2 son and I went to his in laws to expand their deck and we hope to finish it today, the problems we
had the  original deck was thrown together, nothing was square, its hard to polish S#%t!
I hope everyone has a good Sunday, either at work or shoveling snow or fishing, didn't Raquette have his fishing trip
                   this week?

Good Morning ER's woke to 22*, checked with the guessers, and 50* for a high  ??? Really  ??? got another dusting over night, Shoveled out a space to put more bird seed out, Sounds like Jays are singing "Hallelujah" ;D Still over cast, no bright sunshine yet.

fisher-45 "trigger point injections"  ??? whats that, oiling your AR-15  ::)  Jk will look it up.

Eddie:  More than I wanted to see.  Got the drive and walks cleared, with this latest hard freeze figure the cherries will not happen this year. And if the crab trees also froze won't hurt my feelings at all, As wet as the snow is surprised it didn't take down the tent cover over the boat.

Jeff:  Good  luck finishing the deck project with time to spare.  Yeah were is Dom ?  hope it went well for them.  He is probably gearing up for Mothers Day.

Steve:  Power lines for me are under ground, but a lot of the neighbors have above ground lines, I had put a heat tape on the Direct TV dish, to keep the TV on for the Mrs.  Will have to remember to look for the spray to put on it to help keep snow from building up.

Old Sailor it is amazing what they do with the TKR these days, hope the recovery goes well and fast, my guess if she is as passionate as Janice, the pain would be about equal between recovering and not being able to enjoy the flowers.

We watched the Colorado Rockies game after supper, and thought it was going to be a loss, being behind 6-1, but ended up winning 7-6    and taking a 1.5 lead in the division.

So for me its going to take whatever slowly for the rest of today.

Good Day all.

Bud
