37* and rain again this morning. At least WS quit sending us snow. The rain should, notice I said should, quit in a little while. I will wait until it quits to finish loading up for my trip.

Eddie. Those pieces of marble have to be heavy and hard to set using your legs to lift them. Take it easy on your back or you will be in the shape I am in. Trying to pull 70 lb. bags of frozen cherries out of a wood crate that held 12 bags, where there was no way to lift with your legs, is what got my back.

MR C. As dry as it was prior to us getting all this rain it is surprising that we did not have an out break of wild fires. It might have been that it was to cold for the city idiots to be up in the woods building huge bon fires an leaving them with out dousing them with water.

Good late morning ER's  glad to hear the mason  got a tracking # on the 5. Mr clean the bargain looking is going well you may here a update soon;stay tuned. I did post earlier about a new clam voyager TCX # 9503 for 70% off. Mindy good luck with finding a boat.I started cutting canvas for some patterns; I measured 2x cut once and wouldn't ya know I cut in the wrong place oops. Most likely dumping the sliding chair in the clam sled or flipping it upside down as I want something that will fit in the trunk. Found some material that I like and some that looks good on ebay. Tom Turkey the brackets on the sled are too tall but the older clams never used brackets so I can go that rout if I choose. Everyone have a good day at work or play.

Good Morning ER's or LR's like I am this morning.35* and snowing, enough to track a cat on the deck is all, don't expect much of accumulation, just being a cold wet weekend

Have to take Mrs. down town for her annual checkup with a new doctor in that department.  They say the one that was heading up the diabetics section retired ?  I kind of doubt he retired, didn't appear to be that old.  Speaking of Old, how long was the marble in place Eddie ?  ??? Something being walked on in a high traffic area ?  ???  And no I am not into that format of a tournament. ::)

WB you must be in the middle of nowhere up there to have to drive that far.  But can understand not many specialists want to be that far from population centers.

Jeff, yeah you would think they would over lap, it may be their thinking they would have trouble staffing both places.  I learned the new store will not have gunsmiths on sight at the new one, and some part timers we have now don't like the Idea of the travel distance it would be for them.  That may be true, about cutting some out, but I am not concerned at all.  Cabela's new store is but 4 miles from me.  And as with part timers, there is always a big turnover.

Mr. Turkey, I forgot how far you travel for your sweet hunting spot ?  Hope you can score right off if that's to your liking.  Was busy at customer service issuing Turkey licenses last  night.

Mindy, how goes the search for a boat of your liking ?  It may turn out good things come to those that wait.

OG, oops on the cut wrong place, Been there done that.

Looks like the roof tops are gathering a complete cover of snow on neighbors roofs, I have a pretty good view as I am on higher ground than my surroundings.  Mrs. is up and was cracking up over Hillary's ad about Trump's comment about her playing the "woman card" guess the ad wants to know "Whats the Trump Card"  :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

Have a good Friday all.

            Good morning ER's,
Bud.......So how much snow did you get, winter just doesn't want to give up does it? :%$#!: Good luck if
            you're fishing this weekend!
OldGoat.....I think we have all made a mistake like that, so don't beat yourself up too much unless it was an
            expensive piece of wood!
Nice clear skies are on the menu today and a high of 56* here on my hill, I will be doing some outside work,
I started yesterday. I bunked up one of the big pine trees that I dropped, I will split it and use it in my outside boiler!
Tomorrow it's supposed to rain, so I have to figure out something to do inside!
Coffee is on, you're all welcome to stop by, I will even throw on some bacon and eggs! :woot:
I hope everyone has a good Saturday either at work or out fishing!

Good morning Ice Wanderer and early risers. It looks like Ice Wanderer and I are the only users on-line at this time also 47 guests on the site. Old Goat sorry to read about your cutting mistake I hope the fabric is usable for some other project. IFF they remodeled the Gander Mountain by me back in 2014 took out the bait shop area and converted it into novelty items . (plates, blankets, etc. ) Also reduced the size of the sales floor so now there is more warehouse/back room space in the store, upfront they removed most of the cash registers/checkout lanes. The check out area was hardly ever staffed before the remodel  many times I paid for my purchase at customer service counter.
Good news the forest fire is contained we had some rain on Friday night with more forecast for Sunday so hopefully nothing rekindles. Extended forecast calls for a few rainy days in the coming week. Updated report says near 2,300 acres burned hiking trails in Sam's Point Preserve and Minnewaska state park are closed until further notice. They are still try to determine what started the fire. It was first spotted by a popular hiking trail so I'm guessing maybe a tossed cigarette .
Ice Wanderer don't you worry about creosote build up in your boiler from burning pine and other conifers. I know most conifer have a high resin content.

Have a good Saturday everyone  at work or leisure. Best to all fishing today.

Good Morning Jeff, Steve, Morning Guys,
41* and calm this am, high of 60 expected here today.
Jeff...bacon and eggs sure sounds good this morn!!   Hope the splitting goes well for you. The marble pieces are a two man operation. The laborer's load them on a small dolly one at a time, roll them over to where we're going to set after we get the bed coat leveled, and then we fasten the suction cups and place them. They're fairly heavy, guessing about 100lbs a piece, bulky....not too bad.  Enjoy the sunshine today before the rain!
Steve...that's great news about the fire being contained, glad to read that!
Bud...the marble walkways we're renovating have been there since the late 60's-70's. Was actually told yesterday they have been replacing and repairing them now since the early 80's. Anxious to hear how much snow fell as well.
Tom...thanks for the advice....using the legs as much as possible. Ready for your hunting trip?
OG...ditto Steve's reply on the fabric. Looking forward to hearing about those new deals you found!

Going to be taking advantage of the weather like Jeff today and working outside on the fireplace, doubt I'll finish up, but may have enough complete to have a small fire this evening to cook some burgers...that's the plan anyway!  ;D.  As John Wayne once said, " we're burning daylight ".....time to get going here, check in with you boys later on today!
Have a great day everyone, be safe, best of luck to those fishing today!

Steve
It's an outside wood boiler and it doesn't matter that I burn pine, it burns hot enough to burn up any creosote. Generally
creosote builds up on a slow burning fire like when a wood stove is shut down. Last summer I burned Hemlock and it did fine!

Good Morning all!

I am about to head out to my wood pile. It sounds like IW and I are on the same page with wood cutting and splitting. I have about 6 cords to make up and today I will get a hand from the Wife and sister in law. It sure helps having one to just operate the handles on the splitter and of course the it's a fast job to unload and stack. When all is done I will have replaced everything I burnt this last heating season and still be sitting on about 3 years worth of wood.

Good luck on your project Eddie!

I will catch you all later.

Good Morning Crew 30* at 6:30AM, Jeff, Got that right about winter hanging on in my area, was hovering around 35* and snow/sleet/rain, had the road to town wet and lots of spray from vehicles, like driving in a fog, on way to Diabetic departments appointment for the Mrs.  That went well, they are still concerned about some of her low readings some days.  She is glad that is over with.  Looks like winter wounder land all the tree branches are coated, about 1.5 collected on the deck, and yard.  I think it must have amounted to about 2 inches of moisture, and even more to the east where it mostly fell as rain.  Guessers still have the next 4 day low temps around the 30 mark  :%$#!:

Wish you guys would quit talking about splitting wood, its making my back hurt just thinking about some splitting I need to do.  I don't have a splitting machine, as I sold it and have to do it the old fashion way.

Steve that's their plan on this new store, at least smaller total Square feet of retail, and larger gun/hunting department.  There will not be an on sight gunsmith, and no archery range in it.  Ugh, ::) just looked out and its snowing again, albeit lightly.  But I have seen light/flurries stack up pretty good too

Dom, nice to have the radio station on sight, drawing more attention to your upcoming sales.  Hope you do well, even sell out, then you could take even a longer fishing trip  ;D

I'm sure OG will find a deal to his liking for his material  ;D  One of the locals here found a deal at a flee market. Like new Shimano Stradic 2500 on a Fenwick rod that looked to have never been used for $12. another guy had a friend call him saying he was at a garage sale that had 4 rod and reel combo's but didn't know what they were and passed on picking them up, only to find they were Phluger President combos, and they only wanted $20 for all 4.  Now those kind of deals I only hear about

No fishing this weekend, working this afternoon, and will be heading to the Kids, with this laptop and maybe get some input on how or why on Facebook,  and check his snowblower that he thinks he broke  ??? ::)

Good day all, got Saturday chores to tackle this morning.

Good morning early risers welcome to May. Ice Wanderer thank you for the explanation on burning conifers. IFF Have fun at your son's . Whopper Stopper may you and the ladies have a good day splitting and stacking fire wood. Raquettedacker sound like you have a busy week ahead of you may the weather be good for Saturday's event. WarBonnet may you find sometime to fish in the near future. Eddie may all go well with the fireplace.
I feel like a forest service agent latest report has Minnewaska State park open with trails connecting to Sam's Point Preserve closed until further notice. I assume Sam's Point will be closed until fire investigation is complete. The latest estimate is around two thousand acres consumed by the fire.

Have a good Sunday everyone . Good luck to all fishing today.

Good Morning OG, Jeff, Steve,  Morning Everyone,
Welcome to May!    43* this am with rain on the way, high of 45 expected here today.
Today is the opener for turkey hunting here, best of luck to those looking for a gobbler. I think two of my sons are out this morning.
Jeff and Whopper...hope the two of you got the wood split you were hoping to. Jeff, sounds like you were a one man gang again...know the feeling!   ;D
I didn't get as much as I wanted accomplished yesterday, had the grandchildren come over early afternoon and spend the evening with us, but it's coming along.
Received a package in the mail yesterday....new LX5 was delivered, so that was a good surprise.
Well, time to collect this weeks rubbish and make a trip to the transfer station. Thinking about digging out the rain gear and wetting a line if it's not raining to hard a little later on....got a taste for a trout dinner tonight.
Cawfee's on gang....
Hope everyone has a nice Sunday, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!

Good Morning Everyone!

Tough crawl getting out of bed this morning, just a tad stiff :%$#!:. Yesterday the girls and I had a very successful day at the wood pile. When we finally called it a day, we split, hauled and stacked just a little over 4 cord  It would appear I have about 1.5 left to go, but that won't be happening today. Some of what is left isn't the best so I am going to bring it to my neighbors.

I got a heck of a surprise yesterday. This last Dec 10 I was supposed to go on a guided tip-up fishing trip a few hours north of where I live. The trip got cancelled for lack of ice as the lake was still open. The guy I was going with gave me a call yesterday and asked if I would like to fill a cancellation at a reduced price chasing ice out Northern. This is one of his best times for hooking a big gal, and he said after the way we had to cancelled in Dec. he sure would like to see us come. He said it was totally up to me and if I couldn't he had a few others that would fill the spot. I asked the girls around load 2 yesterday and they said YES! Now I am excited!

I hope you all have a Great Sunday, no matter what's on the planner.

Good Morning ER's, UGH again, its snowing.  And the Madness begins, Advertising is set to Kick in about the STORE CLOSING, with 20% off everything in the Fishing Department, and most likely they will begin progressive %'s off as the weeks go by.  Got invite to fish Monday, as it will be a day off and its supposed to warm up some.  He is all excited, as he got some repairs done to his boat.  Mine still has snow on its cover.  I may have to get sneaky and stash some things, and wait till it hits the 70% off mark  :o ;D

My wood pile isn't enough to warrant renting a splitting tool.

Nice getting the offer on fishing for the Water Wolfs WS.  Good luck with that.

Still stumbling around with the Face Book thing, but starting to get the hang of it.

Good Day to all if your out and about.

Good Morning Eddie! Good Monday Morning Everyone!

Hope your boys also have some good luck Eddie! And you also have a safe day at work!

Best wishes also for WB's wife and her appointment. I sure hope all goes well

I hope you knock it out of the park Raquettedacker. We used to do lots of on site radio broadcasts when I was in that game. It always amazed me how many people showed up to be part of the action.Good luck to you Sir! it will be a Great Time!

Our weather is going to be easy to take this week with sun and highs in the 70's. After fighting the rain everyday last week, this will be a tough week finally getting the show on the road.

Our trip is scheduled for Friday the 13th Eddie. I may have to buy a new 5 of diamonds, or have Bud get me one  ;D

Time to fire up the Buick and head to the jungle!

Hope everyone has an excellent day, stay safe!

Good morning Eddie, WS, Steve, ER's,
I'm running late this morning, but I've been up since 3:30. I decided to paint the master bathroom to
surprise my wife, when she gets home Thursday. I like doing stuff early to get it out of the way, ten I have the
rest of the day to do other stuff!
It's raining again today :%$#!: but I can still do some stuff out side. I have a new neighbor that owns land
behind me and he has been making 4 wheeler trails on his property well my property. I heard a 4 wheeler close
behind my house yesterday so I walked out and found Ropes a ribbons on my and my 2 neighbors to the south
of me. I went to one neighbors and we walked out and found some of his lines so tis morning I'm going to the county
and get a tax map of our area and then I'm buying more orange ribbon and marking all of our property lines. This
new neighbor is having a big party about 200 people, they will be riding wheeler and dirt bikes, so we don't want
them riding trough. I don't think my insurance would cover them if they some one got hurt! I don't think he is trying
try something funny, he is in a hurry and didn't look at any tax maps to know where his property lines are exactly.
I hope everyone has a good Monday either at work or out fishing or turkey hunting!

It rained most of yesterday, it was much needed, the fire ban will probably be lifted for the time being!
I got all my and my neighbors lines marked out yesterday, someone would have to be blind not to see any of
them. If it dries out today, my one neighbor is going and paint the trees, so if someone wants to try and move or
remove any ribbons, the lines will be noticed!
I hope everyone has a good Tuesday either at work or out fishing!

Good Tuesday Morning IW! Good Morning Everyone

Hope you can get things nipped in the bud IW. I hope you are right and it’s just an over sight on their part regarding boundaries. Some people like to help share what isn’t theirs, we had that at our shack a few years ago :%$#!:.

mr.clean when do you get to have a couple days off?

Eddie what’s the turkey report from the young masons?  Hope they can find a couple up to their liking. I never hunted them but have had a chance to taste them and thought they were dang good

We had a gunsmith at our local Gander for quite a few years, then the guy died and he was never replaced. They also had minnow tanks and they carried an excellent selection of bait. At the drop of a hat they did away with that. They also had a good sized pool for trying out canoes and kayaks. Yep, they filled it in and used the floor space for shoes. Sometimes it makes you wonder what their plans are ???

I will check in later to see how WB’s wife made out at the Dr.

Hope you all have a great day. Good luck to anyone fishing, or hunting Turkeys.

I am jungle bound!

Good Morning Jeff, Whopper, Morning Everyone,
42* and overcast this am, high of 53 predicted here today...chance of rain.
Jeff...that's too bad you had to probably get soaked putting up ribbons, but glad you got them up and marked your territory so to speak. Hope his party doesn't create too much of a problem. How did the new paint job go?
Whopper...hope you and the ladies have a banner trip on the 13th!  Be safe in the jungle today.
Steve...think I saw you in the hallway....hope you have a great day today! Didn't hear how my sons made out yesterday, assuming it was a bust.
Looks like the focus will be on Indiana today for the Donald and Lying Ted....I'll leave it right there where it lies so to speak!     ;D
We took advantage of the weather yesterday before the rains came to knock a few pieces of marble out. We went inside for our cawfee break and came back out to steady rains falling. Needless to say, we took a good soaking before we got everything picked up and safety barrier's set back in place....one of those days. Slight case of the sniffles this morning.... ;D
Well, time to prepare for another day......cawfee's on fellas.
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing or turkey hunting!

Good morning Ice Wanderer,Whopper Stopper and early risers. Ice Wanderer I hope your new neighbor respects the property lines not a good way to introduce yourself to new neighbors. Also hope he and his friends do not plan on running their AT V's every weekend for majority of the day. I understand each person has his/her own form of recreation but when neighbors are close by everyone must try to get along with each other not always an easy task.
Whopper Stopper currently unless I'm on vacation or request to have two or more days off in any week I work six days. It is a nice feeling to know you are a valuable employee but also gets to be bothersome at times being to go to person in your department .
Having worked in retail for almost 26 years I truly believe it is all about the profits. When Gander Mountain first came to my area they had five or six cash registers after a few years you were lucky if one or two were open  as I posted yesterday many times only customer service desk had open register. There also was a service area for AT V's that did not last long.  I question how Gander stays open by me I'm not in the store that often but many times you have to search for an employee if you have a question about an item. I due appreciate Gander Mountain letting us use their lodge room free of charge since 2013 for  the South East NY. Ice Shanty members preseason ice fishing gathering .
We have had rain off and on since Sunday with possibility of showers each day until Saturday. The area needs the water also reduce the forest fire risk.. The fire must be out no recent stories in newspaper or on local news channel on television. There were multiple stories/articles spread over five pages in Sunday's paper. This year's fire is the third since 2008 in different parts of the Shawangunk Mountains. So now there are questions being raised about limiting access at certain times of year.
Morning Eddie may you have a good day at work. Also may your sons have better hunts before the spring turkey season closes.

Sorry to be so wordy today as always a good day to all. Be safe and good luck to all fish or hunting turkeys and other spring time game.
Steve
