I agree Jiggin.  I love shows like Wicked Tuna and Swamp people but you can tell they are edited/scripted to make for better drama etc.

I was looking forward to the Ice Holes series but so far its very disappointing.

Ha, just watched it on DVR. I was expecting some level of dramatization, but it's pretty over the top.

They should rename it *ss holes instead of ice holes. One of the worst shows I've seen on tv.

I guess I'm not too surprised. The show's producers probably figure the only way to make ice fishing interesting to the general public is with wacky characters and staged shenanigans. I don't know anything more about the guys in the show than what I've seen on TV (which could be a very skewed representation), but I feel bad for them. Instead of being portrayed as knowledgeable fishermen, the show makes them come off as crazy redneck jerks that we should be laughing at.

Though, it's hard to be too sympathetic for them. They certainly didn't do themselves any favors by setting up, or at least agreeing to take part in the pranks and general foolishness. You HAVE to know that's what will make it into the show.

I will say that some of the underwater footage is neat though.

I watched the show Friday night.

Absolutely pathetic and a big waste of time!!!!

I thought they were going to actually film the "DERBY" not some make believe contest!

Show was crap. Wish they would have focused more on fishing, than them acting like jack asses.

I didn't like the show, a very poor depiction of ice fishermen and women if you ask me.  That Josh guy is no sportsman, not even in the least.

The show is a joke. It irratates me that they must think the only way to make ice fishing fun is to pull stupid pranks all day. The only character that seems somewhat knowledgable about ice fishing is wob. The editing is some of the worst editing i have ever seen, one second you will see the two old guys chipping a hole, then a minute later they are fishing out of a augered hole. Then in episode two when they were fishing for rainbows, wob and his buddy were both on and literally one second they show one of them pulling one up from a trap, and the next time they go back to him he has a jig pole in his hand. I can only imagine what they put the fish through, to go and cook something non eatable. Great work NatGeo channel. They should be humiliated.

I watched last nights two episodes hoping they would be better then last weeks. Another wasted hour of my life and time. It is a shame that Nat.GEO. has chosen to portray ice fishing in such a way . This show also tarnishes Nat. Geo.'s reputation in my humble opinion.

its a mockery! It appears to be a lot of time, money and resources wasted! I cant imagine people that ice fish or do not ice fish would find this entertaining.  Could have been a good thing too!

Anyone else see this show on nat geo that's about ice fishin? Seems like it's pretty stupid portraying ice fisherman in similar manner they portray gator hunters, and any other person who spends time outdoors instead of trapped in some crappy city. But damn why didn't I think to pitch this to them first?
