Never say Never (pics)
« on: Apr 27, 2014, 12:02 AM »
I thought i was done with hard water. i was ready to pack my ice fishing stuff in the shed and call it a year...  week passes, i'm bored ,weather is the s@#Ts ..
Manitoba had its coldest winter in like in 113 years. so there's no way ice fishing is done.
Reading Facebook ,  people are posting sappy sad fishing picture posts    ,(this is me when i'm not fishing)   blah blah..
got a text... hey lets get a group out and try something, .   . hmm ur right ..    screw this.. time is dragging.      seems way to long for open water season,
everything is flooding,   ice jams are screwing with everything.    (good thing they cut the ice early)
any how ... lostman had the same idea, Man theres tons of ice , LETS GO....
lostman got the crew together and we header for west hawk and surrounding waters.   had a blast...  ice is stupid thick, we buried the motor head on the auger, foot of white ice and two feet of solid black ice.
the shoreline is melting but is still thick...  not telling everyone to get out and be crazy...  we felt comfortable with the ice and prepared for the worst..  but no worries..
lake trout were just hungry , and so were we ... so two and two makes trout dinner....  rattle and vibrating lures seem key.  thanks lostman... GOODTIMES..  lostman's girlfriend won most and biggest fish..  high five..

Jelous. Was just sitting here at working thinking there still must be lots of ice out there. Where did you end up parking at west hawk?
